Role summary

As an Engineering Manager for the Backend-Platform swimlane you will lead and manage up to two teams (API Platform & Datalake). Your focus will be guiding teams to deliver high-quality, stable, performant services that enable client teams to drive engagement and revenue. You will collaborate with product, client teams, DevSecOps and SRE, and coordinate technical decisions across the MetaMask ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Manage up to two teams with 2–4 engineers each; provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Drive delivery of key features, ensuring release timelines and build quality meet technical and operational guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, client teams, DevSecOps, SRE) to develop and maintain performant, scalable services.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Drive technical decision-making to ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable.
  • Maintain deep understanding of the technical landscape and industry trends.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams for seamless integration across MetaMask.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure team impact and inform product decisions.
  • Communicate technical plans, progress, and results to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of software engineering management experience in a global role.
  • Hiring management experience.
  • Agile software engineering experience.
  • Engineering skills / hands-on experience with:
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • Go (GoLang)
    • Node.js & server-side frameworks
    • Data warehousing and SQL
    • AWS infrastructure
    • Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana)
    • Git and GitHub
  • Experience developing APIs, databases, and backend services for consumer products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Compensation & additional notes

  • US pay range (not including bonus, equity, or other benefits): $138,000—$225,000 USD (for US-based candidates; final range determined during interview process based on experience and skills).
