Consensys is the leading blockchain and web3 software company. Through products including MetaMask, Infura, Linea, Diligence, and Phosphor, we build tooling and infrastructure to make Web3 accessible and easy to develop on. The RAMPS team enables seamless fiat on/off-ramping — helping users transition between traditional finance and decentralized applications. This role focuses on technical leadership for ramp-related features and infrastructure across backend, frontend, and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and execution of ramp-related features and infrastructure
- Guide and mentor a team of junior and mid-level engineers (across backend, frontend, and mobile)
- Build secure, scalable systems that connect users to third-party ramp providers and payments infrastructure
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers from across MetaMask to ship cross-platform features
- Maintain high code quality through design discussions, reviews, testing, and documentation
- Ensure reliability, observability, and performance of the RAMPS services
- Own architectural decisions that affect revenue-generating user flows
- Partner with mobile and extension teams to create unified, seamless ramping experiences
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack or backend engineering roles
- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js, and familiarity with modern web technologies
- Demonstrated experience leading projects, mentoring engineers, and making architectural decisions
- Familiarity with payment infrastructure, APIs, and third-party integrations
- Ability to think critically about edge cases, system security, and failure modes
- Experience working in agile environments with cross-functional teams
- Commitment to clean code practices, testing, and maintainable software
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in remote-first teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English
- Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams and a growth mindset
- Strategic thinking balancing technical quality with business outcomes
- Passion for Web3, decentralization, and open systems
Bonus (preferred)
- Experience working on fiat on/off ramp systems, DeFi, or financial infrastructure
- Understanding of Web3 fundamentals, wallets, and the MetaMask ecosystem
- Familiarity with mobile-first development and cross-platform architecture
- Interest in performance optimization, observability, and long-term system health
Additional details
- Remote-first role. Locations explicitly listed: United States (Remote), Canada (Remote), LATAM (Remote).
- Applicants will be required to submit to background checks (employment, education, criminal record checks) as a condition of employment.
- The salary range for US-based candidates (not including bonus, equity, or other benefits): $146,000—$218,000 USD. The specific pay within that range will be determined throughout the interview process depending on experience and skills.
