About proficiency levels:
- 1-2 — basic awareness. Minimal hands-on experience, and a rudimentary understanding of the technology's purpose;
- 3-6 — daily use. Comfortable and regular usage, capable of handling common tasks and challenges related to the technology;
- 7-9 — you are an expert, you can teach others, you know all the pitfalls and tricks;
- 10 — exceptional knowledge, comprehensive understanding, and adeptness in all aspects of the technology, including advanced problem-solving. Think twice before claiming or demanding such level.

Details
Anthropic is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Integrity and Attestation team. The team builds systems that cryptographically verify build artifacts, model weights, and machines, from hardware roots of trust through firmware and boot to workload credentials. It also secures the server management plane across cloud providers and bare-metal AI data centers.
Responsibilities
- Own the integrity roadmap, threat-modeling systems from silicon and firmware through the operating system and workloads.
- Design and implement remote attestation, measured and verified boot, hardware roots of trust including TPM and SPDM, machine identity, and reference values defining known-good states.
- Make attestation the default path so machines receive credentials and join clusters only after proving their firmware, system software, and security configuration.
- Build provenance for deployed artifacts, including signed build artifacts and model weights, independent verification, and tamper-evident transparency logs.
- Lead protection of sensitive data in use and at rest, including encryption and access-control chokepoints.
- Secure the server management plane across sites, including scoped and audited access to baseboard management controllers and per-device credential management.
- Make security repeatable as compute grows so new sites and hardware platforms inherit the controls quickly.
- Partner with compute bring-up, data center, hardware, infrastructure, and outside vendor teams during design.
- Define ownership with partner teams while maintaining security properties and proving that they continue to hold.
- Own integrity evidence for security goals and compliance.
- Hire, grow, and retain senior security software engineers, manage career development, and establish scalable team practices.
Requirements
- Low ego and high empathy, with experience building diverse teams and managing senior and staff engineers.
- Experience hiring, developing, and managing engineering teams, including growing engineers into staff or lead roles and handling performance management.
- Experience leading teams and systems through hypergrowth, reorgs, charter changes, or leadership turnover.
- Experience owning a security or infrastructure domain end to end, including multi-year strategy, long-running cross-organizational delivery, and executive-level risk and tradeoff management.
- Appreciation for distributed systems properties including reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
- Hands-on engineering experience in at least one of platform security, secure boot and firmware, hardware roots of trust, confidential computing, or software supply chain integrity.
- Experience with threat modeling and risk assessment for systems spanning hardware and software.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity with multiple partner teams and outside vendors.
- At least 5+ years managing engineering teams and 8+ years of hands-on experience in platform, infrastructure, or security engineering.
- Experience building or operating remote attestation, device identity, or fleet-wide boot integrity at production scale.
- Experience with BMCs, Redfish, GPU or accelerator attestation, or large-scale bare-metal provisioning.
- Experience with Nitro, SEV-SNP, TDX, or similar confidential-computing platforms is beneficial.
- Experience building signing, provenance, or transparency systems such as Sigstore, SLSA, or binary transparency is beneficial.
- Experience designing key management or offline ceremonies for high-value secrets is beneficial.
- Experience in high-assurance environments where controls must be evidenced, not only deployed.
- Experience taking infrastructure from zero to one and operating and hardening it into a system other teams depend on.
- Clear and persuasive written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with AI security and safety concepts.
- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. The field of study should be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Benefits
Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration. Anthropic currently expects staff to be in one of its offices at least 25% of the time. Anthropic sponsors visas and makes reasonable efforts to obtain a visa for successful candidates, with support from an immigration lawyer.
