About the Team

The Direct Surfaces Team’s mission is to make it delightful for users to manage their money. The team is rebuilding and unbundling the core of Stripe so that businesses of every type, location, and use case have a single place to fulfil their financial needs through Stripe Treasury. This is a new business at Stripe.

Responsibilities

Scope and lead technical projects, laying the groundwork for products to iteratively evolve and scale.
Design, build, expand, and maintain user interfaces, related APIs, and services.
Work with partners to design and launch new features and capabilities.
Align technical decisions with Stripe’s broad strategic initiatives while advocating for the needs of emerging businesses.
Work with engineers across the company to determine when existing infrastructure can be leveraged and when a bespoke solution is appropriate.
Develop and execute short- and long-term roadmaps.
Make effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation.

Requirements

3+ years of industry experience building high-quality code and infrastructure.
A strong technical background and experience building scalable products.
Experience delivering changes across all layers of the technical stack.
Experience ensuring a great user experience and ease of use for features and products.
Understanding of good practices for building and working with user interfaces and APIs.
Ability to measure success in terms of business impact rather than lines of code.
Ability to internalize ideas from across the organization and set a vision that others support.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to earn trust from coworkers at all levels.
Interest in mentoring and growing engineers.
Preference for simple solutions and designs over complex ones, with good intuition for what will last and scale.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and work with people from diverse areas of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong React expertise.
Experience using React Native.
Experience ensuring a great user experience and ease of use for product features.
Experience with financial product companies and an interest in financial products and markets.

Engineering works closely with teams including Sales and Support to understand customer needs, and Legal and Accounting to understand how global policies influence money-moving infrastructure.
