Details
NVIDIA data centers host high-performance computing and machine learning applications. The Global Connectivity Distinguished Engineer will accelerate next-generation connectivity solutions by aligning the strategic design, deployment, and optimization of high-capacity terrestrial long-haul and subsea pathways that interconnect AI Factories. This role bridges physical fiber infrastructure and global-scale AI deployments.
Responsibilities
- Work with industry partners on diverse long-haul terrestrial routes to ensure network resilience and high-capacity data flow between regional AI hubs.
- Participate in subsea and terrestrial consortiums to increase capacity and efficiency while optimizing transit cost per bit.
- Work with government relations teams to influence market rules and support reliable, scalable fiber options for AI Factories.
- Conduct market and connectivity-systems analysis, including economic modeling, risk assessment, and portfolio valuation, to inform investment decisions.
- Advance the transition from best-effort transport to ultra-reliable, low-latency communication (URLLC) protocols.
- Navigate international regulatory frameworks and ITU-T standards to identify constraints involving cross-border data transfers.
- Strategically manage three- to five-year timelines for carrier-neutral interconnection in collaboration with government stakeholders.
- Coordinate AI interconnection requirements with national data residency laws and security and encryption requirements.
- Lead commercial, regulatory, engineering, and analytical disciplines to implement a coordinated global fiber strategy.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of experience in a business leadership role within a hyperscale cloud provider or Tier-1 global carrier.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience leading large infrastructure projects, such as transoceanic subsea systems or national-scale terrestrial fiber builds.
- Experience designing interconnections for high-density GPU clusters, including the distinct backhaul requirements of AI training and inference.
- Deep understanding of right-of-way (ROW), subsea landing stations, and power-to-fiber ratios.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and implement sophisticated commercial initiatives.
- Experience engaging with utility commissions, federal regulators, and grid operators.
- Experience with both new and established global fiber ecosystems.
- Skills in financial modeling, contracts, and risk evaluation for energy-related transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in fiber-system economics, utility ratemaking, and energy markets.
- Experience negotiating agreements, evaluating collaborative right-of-way options, and supporting large-scale infrastructure planning.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of engineering, markets, and policy.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: USD 320,000–488,750 per year.
- Eligible for equity and benefits.
