Coinbase mission and culture

The role is high-visibility, fast-paced, and requires working with senior finance and engineering leaders.
Team / Role
The Financial Engineering team supports all trading flows and products at Coinbase, empowering finance functions to operate with precision, agility, and foresight. This role partners directly with senior finance leadership (including the Chief Accounting Officer) and leads product work for finance transformation, process automation, AI-driven insights, and system improvements.
Responsibilities
- Define and own product strategy and roadmap for finance transformation, process automation, AI-driven insights, and system improvements, tightly aligned with Finance leadership priorities and company objectives
- Manage and mentor product managers, raising the bar for product craft, stakeholder management, and technical depth across the team
- Lead cross-functional execution of complex, high-impact initiatives including reconciliation tooling, SOX-compliant change management for the financial reporting pipeline, new product finance onboarding, and self-serve tools for Accounting and Treasury
- Act as subject matter expert on finance operations: deeply understand accounting, crypto & fiat reconciliation, and treasury workflows; identify high-leverage opportunities for automation and tooling
- Partner with senior leaders in finance, product, and engineering to prioritize and manage a portfolio of high-priority initiatives, communicating progress, risks, and timelines
- Define the future-state finance technology landscape and ensure roadmaps are grounded in technical reality
- Represent finance users in tech implementations; design and execute change management and training programs to drive adoption across finance teams
- Conduct competitive and data analyses to guide decision-making and become an expert in financial and crypto products
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years managing other product managers
- Demonstrated ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (examples called out: LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, with human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs
- Computer Science degree or Software Engineering experience
- Deep knowledge of financial products, including financial record keeping, accounting pipelines, and financial reporting
- Experience building robust, scalable solutions for accounting, treasury management, and financial operations
- Demonstrated success leading business-critical systems in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders (CFO/CAO, Accounting, Product & Engineering) toward a common vision
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for crypto and Web3
Nice to haves
- MBA and/or professional certifications such as CPA or CFA
- Expertise in AI/ML, RPA, or low-code automation applied to finance workflows
- Familiarity with SOX controls and audit readiness at scale
- Knowledge of accounting terminology and financial applications (ERP systems, accounting platforms, FP&A and budgeting tools)
Compensation
- Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus): $243,865 — $286,900 USD
- Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k))
