Details

The Bloomberg Network Triage team oversees and supports one of the largest private networks in the world. This role supports a network spanning over 100 node sites and connecting clients globally to more than 1,500 exchanges. You will ensure customers have 24/7 access to the network, provide reactive support for networking issues, and conduct proactive analysis to maintain network stability and reliability.

As part of the AMER team, you will collaborate with engineers across the region and around the world to analyze packets, resolve complex network incidents, and improve the quality of technical and telecommunication services. The role serves as a critical point of contact between the Network Engineering and Operations team and various internal groups.

Responsibilities

  • Support the global network and ensure uninterrupted client access using proprietary and third-party platforms from Juniper, Cisco, Arista, and Nokia.
  • Collaborate with Technical Support, Network Production Engineering, and Telecommunications teams to provide daily support for Bloomberg's market data infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity problems affecting customers and stock exchange access.
  • Administer internal ticketing systems and adhere to strict deadlines to ensure incidents are resolved quickly and projects are delivered on time.
  • Deliver hardware and software support across routers, switches, network sniffers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time, to support global network coverage and operational needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a Network Operations Engineer or Network Engineer in an enterprise environment, troubleshooting and resolving critical issues.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IGMP, and PIM-related internal and external network routing issues in a production environment.
  • Experience managing service issues with third-party service providers, including ISPs and international telecommunications vendors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and work autonomously and collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Networking degree or industry-standard networking qualification such as CCNA, JNCIA, or WCNA.
  • Experience with stock exchange and market data connectivity.
  • Experience building monitoring dashboards using Grafana, Splunk, and Humio.
  • Understanding of financial markets and underlying data technologies.
  • Understanding of multicast deployments using IGMP, PIM, and MVR.
  • Understanding of DWDM and optical networking.
  • Knowledge of data center build and design fundamentals.
  • Experience with cloud technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving firewall, load-balancing, and proxy issues in a production environment.
  • Experience with Python for tooling, automation, and services.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub and automation or orchestration platforms such as Airflow, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $95,000–$140,000 USD annually, plus benefits and bonus.
