Details

NVIDIA Research develops cutting-edge hardware, software, and algorithmic technologies for next-generation GPU systems. The team is seeking PhD research interns to work on technologies surrounding deep learning, humanoid robotics, database analytics, general computing, and other areas related to NVIDIA's business.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on algorithms, hardware, and system software extending the state of the art in deep learning, humanoid robotics, database analytics, general computing, and related technology areas.
  • Invent techniques, technologies, methodologies, processes, and devices that can enable new products or product categories.
  • Deliver prototypes, patents, products, and publications.
  • Develop methods and processes for scientific evaluation of research techniques and artifacts, including agentic-driven techniques, simulation, modeling, and benchmarking.
  • Produce technology vision and foundations for products 5–10 years in the future, focusing on extending and improving existing technologies rather than products currently shipping or in development.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a PhD in a relevant discipline such as computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • At least one year of university or industrial research experience in computer architecture or computer systems, including operating systems, distributed systems, compilers, or AI/ML systems.
  • Strong programming ability; C, C++, and Python are preferred.
  • Eagerness to learn and use AI tools for software development and system design.
  • Experience designing and evaluating research ideas through prototyping, simulation, modeling, or experimentation.
  • Strong programming skills and the ability to communicate research ideas, methods, and results clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chip or system-level architecture research, including agentic techniques for computer architecture and specialized accelerators for deep learning and humanoid robotics.
  • Systems infrastructure for LLM training, inference, and agents or tools.
  • Experience with state management in agentic systems or systems for humanoid robotics.
  • Experience with AI/systems co-design.
  • Research targeting architecture and systems conferences such as ISCA, ASPLOS, MICRO, HPCA, SOSP, MLSys, NSDI, or OSDI.
  • Publications are a plus but are not required; research in progress, manuscripts in preparation, and submissions under review are welcome.

Benefits

  • Intern hourly rates range from USD 38 to USD 94, based on position, location, year in school, degree, and experience.
  • Eligible for NVIDIA intern benefits.
  • NVIDIA is committed to an inclusive work environment and is an equal opportunity employer.

Applications will be accepted at least until September 21, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy. NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.
