About the Team

You'll work closely with several teams of engineers and product managers to shape products used by Stripe employees across engineering, operations, finance, and beyond. This is a high-impact role for a designer who finds as much satisfaction in untangling complex workflows and dense information architectures as in crafting polished interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for a portfolio of internal tools, from discovery and problem framing through interaction design, prototyping, and implementation support.
• Partner with engineering and product managers to define product requirements and translate them into clear, usable, and well-considered design solutions.
• Conduct lightweight research and usability sessions with internal users to validate decisions and surface unmet needs.
• Contribute to a consistent design language across the internal tools suite, working closely with the Sail Design team and the Stripe design system.
• Make design trade-offs confidently, knowing when to focus deeply on craft and when to ship a pragmatic solution that moves the product forward.
• Help raise the bar for internal product design at Stripe by advocating for users who are often underserved compared with customer-facing surfaces.

You'll take ownership of two spaces within Stripe's internal tooling portfolio:

• Developer Productivity: Ensuring every engineer at Stripe has the tools needed to be productive.
• Collaboration: Supporting knowledge discovery and communication at scale.

You'll pair with an existing designer on the team to bring design quality and consistency to surfaces that are critical to how Stripe operates internally.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio demonstrating strong UX thinking, clear visual craft, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Experience designing tools for complex or data-heavy workflows. Experience with internal tools, developer tools, operations platforms, or similar products is a strong plus.
• Comfort working across the full design process, including leading discovery, writing problem briefs, designing and prototyping, and shipping without needing every step handed to you.
• Strong systems-thinking skills, with a natural ability to identify patterns, reusable components, and structural solutions rather than one-off fixes.
• Collaborative and direct communication skills, including sharing work early, giving and receiving feedback, and aligning cross-functional stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Figma and comfort working within or alongside a design system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for internal-facing or enterprise tooling environments.
• Experience contributing to a design system or working closely with a design systems team.
• Exposure to information architecture challenges, including navigation, search, and content modeling.
• A background in or interest in developer tooling, operations platforms, or workflow automation.
