Details
Anthropic is hiring a Product Manager, Public Sector, to help government agencies use Claude in the production path of consequential public-sector work. The role covers civilian, state and local, govtech, and national security portfolios. Some portfolios require eligibility for a US security clearance, while most do not.
The role involves working with government institutions to identify important workflows, shaping products around those workflows, and carrying valuable public-sector requirements into Anthropic’s broader product roadmap. The position works with dedicated engineering and research teams, as well as policy, go-to-market, customer success, applied AI, cloud, and integration partners.
Responsibilities
- Run discovery inside government institutions alongside go-to-market teams to identify where Claude can support production workflows.
- Shape products based on observations and needs identified through government engagement.
- Own product decisions for government models, product offerings, and agency workflows built on top of them.
- Identify government needs worth generalizing and incorporate them into Anthropic’s broader roadmap.
- Help Anthropic navigate government compliance regimes.
- Partner with cloud providers and integration partners.
Requirements
- Experience shipping successful products end-to-end, with strong product judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to build products based on observing users and their workflows rather than relying solely on requirements documents.
- Ability to achieve results through teams that do not report directly to you.
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization or setting the pace in a slower environment.
- Ability to quickly develop domain intuition across large enterprises.
- US person status, as required by Anthropic’s agreements with the US Government.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- A field of study relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Approximately 7 or more years of experience building and shipping products, or equivalent scope.
- Practical understanding of how government operates, gained from government, a digital services organization, or building products used by public servants.
- Experience taking a public-sector or field requirement into a successful commercial product.
- Fluency with AI products, including evaluations and model behavior as part of the product surface.
- Experience shipping products within a FedRAMP, classified, or comparable compliance boundary.
- Experience negotiating with or guiding large partners such as cloud providers or systems integrators.
- An active TS/SCI security clearance with the US government, relevant to some portfolios.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Compensation
- Annual salary: $305,000–$385,000 USD
Work Arrangement
The role is remote-friendly but requires travel. Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, and some roles may require more office attendance.
