Bloomberg’s Chief Risk Office (CRO) supports Bloomberg’s regulated entities, products, non-regulated products, and services worldwide. The team provides centralized risk frameworks, processes, tools, training, advisory services, and risk reporting to help businesses incorporate risk into decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze risks within Engineering areas, evaluating risks and control frameworks.
  • Work with Engineering stakeholders to analyze key processes, including documenting process flows, reviewing policies and procedures, and conducting stakeholder interviews.
  • Facilitate First Line of Defense (FLOD) risk execution and support Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) training.
  • Challenge FLOD regarding risk identification, risk mitigation, and control adequacy.
  • Communicate gaps identified through risk assessments and assist with remediation.
  • Support the design and implementation of an enhanced RCSA process, including improved data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze risk data and metrics to identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement risk mitigation measures.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on relevant risk trends.
  • Help ensure the integrity, completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of risk data while driving risk programs.
  • Use Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools to document risk management, monitoring, measurement, and reporting.
  • Follow up on gaps, incidents, and remediation plans requiring action by business units.
  • Stay informed about risk industry developments and educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • 6–7 years of risk management experience with a focus on technology risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in risk management, audit, or compliance related to technology risk or cybersecurity.
  • Good understanding of technology infrastructure, application operations, and controls.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to guide organizational change and partner with senior management and staff.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity through professional training, an advanced degree, or professional impact.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and frameworks such as NIST, CSF, CIS, and COSO.
  • Prior experience in a First or Second Line of Defense capacity.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and maintain a positive work attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver work on schedule.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work across multiple organizational levels.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Senior Associate, Vice President, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of financial markets is preferred.
