Details
NVIDIA is looking for a Senior Perception Engineer to develop and productize autonomous driving solutions. The perception team develops end-to-end solutions for understanding traffic signals, including traffic lights, traffic signs, road markings, construction objects, and other signals critical for autonomous driving without reliance on high-definition maps. The role focuses on improving solution robustness, accuracy, and efficiency across diverse driving environments.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end perception and autonomous vehicle stack solutions for traffic signal detection across complex intersections, rural roads, highways, and other driving environments.
- Conduct applied research and development of deep learning models for traffic light detection, traffic sign recognition, road marking detection, construction object detection, text recognition, and other traffic signal tasks.
- Develop generalizable approaches to support diverse operational design domains and country or regional expansion.
- Drive data-driven development in collaboration with large data collection and labeling teams.
- Prioritize data collection and labeling, optimize labeling efficiency, and maximize the value of data for improving perception system accuracy.
- Use data simulation and augmentation to address extreme scenarios.
- Productize perception solutions by meeting requirements for safety, latency, and software robustness.
Requirements
- PhD with 4 or more years of relevant experience, MS with 6 or more years of relevant experience, or BS or equivalent experience with 8 or more years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience developing deep learning and algorithmic solutions for sophisticated real-world problems.
- Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience with data-driven development and collaboration with data and ground-truth teams.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++.
- Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
- Two or more years of technical leadership involving significant technical and organizational complexity is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise developing generalizable perception solutions for autonomous driving or robotics using camera-based deep learning.
- Experience developing and deploying deep neural network solutions to embedded platforms for real-time applications.
- Technical publications in leading conferences or journals demonstrating deep learning expertise.
- Experience with Visual Language Models, Transformers, BEV architectures, and modern traffic signal perception techniques.
- Experience working on complex object detection and recognition problems.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range for Level 4: USD 184,000 to USD 287,500 per year.
- Base salary range for Level 5: USD 224,000 to USD 356,500 per year.
- Additional eligibility for equity and benefits.
- Applications will be accepted at least until September 25, 2026.
- This posting is for an existing vacancy.
- NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.
- NVIDIA is committed to an inclusive work environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
