Senior Machine Learning Manager, Video Ranking

Reddit is looking for an experienced engineering manager to lead its Media Ranking teams. The role involves leading a high-impact team of Machine Learning Engineers focused on improving relevance, personalization, and discovery across Reddit's core product, with an emphasis on media including video and audio.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Feed Relevance, aligning machine learning solutions with Reddit's product and business objectives.
• Coach and support team members while creating opportunities to grow their skills and impact.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, set expectations, and communicate the team's work.
• Oversee the design, development, and optimization of relevance, discovery, and content distribution systems.
• Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams on next-generation AI-powered solutions.
• Maintain high standards for system performance, reliability, and efficiency in alignment with customer needs and responsible AI principles.
• Partner with recruiting to attract, interview, and hire machine learning engineers and grow a world-class team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production machine learning systems, including transformer-based architectures, sequence models, or large language models (LLMs).
• Strong understanding of recommender systems, including candidate retrieval, ranking, value modeling, ecosystem dynamics, and measurement strategies.
• Ability to develop and communicate a clear technical strategy supporting broader company objectives and internal customer needs.
• Passion for developing scalable, well-designed, and responsible AI solutions that drive business value.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences and build strong cross-functional relationships.

Compensation

The base salary range is $266,000–$372,400 USD per year. The position may also be eligible for commission depending on the role offered.
