Details

The Senior Principal, Competitive Intelligence will report to the Director, Product & Performance within Strategic Finance & Analytics. The role is responsible for evaluating Airbnb's competitive landscape across geographies and product offerings, building evaluation criteria and metrics, and delivering clear insights to leaders across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage regular reporting to review key marketplace and product metrics.
  • Track developing news and industry trends.
  • Lead a monthly leadership insights forum.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Supply, Global Markets, Product, and Marketing to conduct strategic deep dives that inform key decisions.
  • Lead the competitive intelligence data strategy, including evaluating data required to achieve growth initiatives and identifying potential data sources.
  • Own relationships with external data providers and research vendors.
  • Ensure competitive insights and datasets are accessible and actionable for cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams to deliver reliable reporting infrastructure.
  • Serve as the company's go-to authority on current and future competitors, adjacent marketplaces, the travel industry, and macroeconomic trends.
  • Synthesize competitive signals into clear, actionable narratives for executive decision-making.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant business and insights experience.
  • Experience ideally combining finance and analytics, management consulting, investment banking, and/or business operations.
  • AI proficiency or the ability to become AI proficient, including use of Claude or Gemini.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence internal and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills with audiences at various levels.
  • Ability to synthesize fragmented information into stories with recommendations.
  • Advanced presentation skills using Google Docs, Keynote, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical instincts, business acumen, and the ability to distill complex information into concise, executive-ready narratives.
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity, work independently, and own a critical capability end to end.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. If the position is employed by another Airbnb entity, the recruiter will provide information about eligible states.

Compensation

The base pay range is $204,000–$245,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
