Overview
The Senior Principal, Competitive Intelligence will report to the Director, Product & Performance within Strategic Finance & Analytics. This role blends art and science to evaluate Airbnb's evolving competitive landscape, build evaluation criteria and metrics, and deliver clear insights to leaders across the company. The individual will be the company's go-to authority on competitors, adjacent marketplaces, the travel industry at large, and macroeconomic trends.
Responsibilities
- Competitive monitoring: develop and manage regular reporting to review key metrics across marketplace and product; track developing news and industry trends; lead monthly leadership insights forum.
- Strategic deep dives: partner with stakeholders across Supply, Global Markets, Product, and Marketing to conduct deep analytical deep dives that inform key decisions.
- Data strategy: lead the competitive intelligence data strategy — evaluate required data and potential data sources; own relationships with external data providers and research vendors.
- Cross-functional enablement: ensure competitive insights and datasets are accessible and actionable for cross-functional teams; partner with Engineering and Data teams to deliver reliable reporting infrastructure.
- Synthesize competitive signals into clear, actionable narratives for executive decision-making.
Requirements
- 12+ years of relevant business and insights experience (mix of finance & analytics, management consulting, investment banking, and/or business operations preferred).
- AI proficient or able to become AI proficient (examples called out: Claude or Gemini).
- Strong cross-functional partnership and influence skills; ability to proactively facilitate connections between teams.
- Strong communication and synthesis skills for audiences at various levels; ability to create executive-ready stories with recommendations.
- Advanced presentation skills (Google Docs, Keynote, Excel).
Location & Work Arrangement
- US - Remote Eligible. Role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager.
- Candidates must live in a U.S. state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity (see Airbnb careers for up-to-date excluded states).
Compensation
- Base pay range: $204,000—$245,000 USD.
- This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
