NVIDIA is building accelerated computing platforms and next-generation InfiniBand, NVLink, and Ethernet systems for advanced AI clusters.

The team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Architect specializing in Ethernet Switch ASIC software. The role focuses on building high-performance networking technologies for machine learning and artificial intelligence computing. The architect will help define switching software stacks and Linux kernel networking, represent NVIDIA in open-source projects, technical conferences, standards development organizations, and lead customer engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Explore networking features, protocols, hardware and software capabilities, and open-source drivers to build and improve networking platforms.
  • Identify and evaluate new innovations, initiatives, and software partners aligned with business needs and technology roadmaps.
  • Define robust embedded software architectures for next-generation switch platforms optimized for AI/ML workloads and high-performance operations.
  • Lead research and development and validation teams with technical guidelines, ongoing support, and reviews of build and test plans.
  • Collaborate with architects across chip build, firmware, hardware platforms, and system teams.
  • Partner with product marketing, program managers, and account managers to drive successful project execution.
  • Lead engagements with key customers in emerging edge-technology fields.
  • Drive innovation through proof-of-concept developments, patents, white papers, and participation in industry forums and working groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in embedded networking software development, including at least 5 years as a Software Architect accountable for major modules.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Ethernet/IP, network topologies, and networking features across data center, telecommunications, or edge networks.
  • Strong foundation in embedded software development and operating system fundamentals.
  • Proven record of researching and integrating new technologies into practical applications.
  • Demonstrated project leadership, ownership, and accountability.
  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to build consensus across large organizations.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of switch ASIC hardware, Software Development Kits, and network operating systems.
  • Deep understanding of the Linux kernel and networking.
  • Ability to prototype ideas, demonstrate their value, and build initial implementations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: USD 184,000–287,500 per year.
  • Eligible for equity and benefits.
