The Autonomous Vehicles Platform team is seeking a hands-on Senior System Software Engineer to develop performant and scalable solutions for data collection and autonomous vehicle fleets. The role focuses on Autonomous Driving Platform software, including platform and middleware features for self-driving cars that interact with cameras, LIDAR, RADAR, GPS, IMU, Vehicle CAN, and other sensors. You will work across platform and embedded software, cloud infrastructure, safety, and performance on multi-computer and heterogeneous architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate sensors into the autonomous vehicle driving software stack.
  • Develop and improve the startup user experience of the autonomous vehicle stack.
  • Develop data recording and mining software.
  • Work on sensor abstraction layers, data processing, performance optimization, data serialization, and service frameworks.
  • Collaborate with hardware, platform software, product, safety, performance, algorithms, and cloud teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience working on system software.
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, C, and Python.
  • Familiarity with source control tools.
  • Solid understanding of Linux, QNX, ROS, and/or real-time operating systems.
  • Experience developing user-space system software, with a willingness to work in kernel space and/or with low-level hardware when needed.
  • Knowledge of embedded system programming, threading, mutexes, synchronization, communication, and parallel computing for building highly scalable and efficient applications.
  • Familiarity with CPU/GPU and memory hardware architecture and performance considerations.
  • Prior experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, self-driving cars, GPU technology, or embedded systems.
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of system architecture, including CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and performance optimization.
  • Experience building autonomous vehicle or robotic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded development, operating systems, and real-time software.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range: $152,000–$241,500 for Level 3 and $184,000–$287,500 for Level 4, determined by location, experience, and compensation for similar positions.
  • Eligible for equity and benefits.
