AI @ 6 API @ 4 Communication @ 6 Distributed Systems @ 4 Networking

Details

Anthropic is hiring a Technical Program Manager to drive scaling and core efficiency programs for its API stack. The role operates at the intersection of the API and the infrastructure it runs on, including compute, databases, networking, and inference. The position connects workstreams across teams into a coherent roadmap, makes cross-organizational dependencies visible, and clarifies decision ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Drive scaling and core efficiency programs for the API stack from architectural direction through sequenced, deliverable execution.
  • Run multiple large programs simultaneously across infrastructure, networking, and the API layer.
  • Coordinate API, infrastructure, database, networking, and inference teams, owning cross-organizational dependencies end to end.
  • Establish decision-making clarity, including ownership, trade-offs, and how individual workstreams roll up into a unified program view.
  • Surface risks, progress, and trade-offs to engineering leadership with the appropriate cadence and level of detail.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of technical program management experience with a track record of delivering complex, cross-functional programs.
  • Experience with API platforms, distributed systems, and core infrastructure programs, with the ability to engage meaningfully with engineers who design and operate them.
  • Experience driving scaling, performance, or efficiency programs for high-volume production systems, including trade-offs across performance, reliability, and cost.
  • Experience coordinating programs across multiple partner organizations and managing cross-team dependencies, commitments, and escalations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams across distributed teams.
  • Ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous and unstructured situations, including situations where decision ownership is unclear.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Interest in operating AI infrastructure safely and reliably.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The field of study must be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Benefits

Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration.

Work Arrangement

The role follows a location-based hybrid policy. Staff are currently expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.

Visa Sponsorship

Anthropic sponsors visas and states that it will make every reasonable effort to obtain a visa for candidates who receive an offer, with support from an immigration lawyer.
