Details

The Agent Enablement AI Deployment Engineering team works across engineering, product, design, partnerships, and strategic customers to grow an open ecosystem of agent-enabled sites and services. The team helps partners adopt OpenAI technologies related to identity, permissioning, and agent-authentication primitives so users can safely connect ChatGPT and Codex to existing tools, services, and workflows. It also works on standards for agent access, marketplace offerings, and other agent enablement initiatives.

This is a hands-on, partner-facing product engineering role focused on designing, building, validating, launching, and operating agent enablement integrations across web applications, connectors, APIs, CLIs, MCP servers, and developer tools. The role combines full-stack engineering, OAuth/OIDC and identity systems, product judgment, project leadership, and communication with engineers and executives.

The role is based in the San Francisco office and follows a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical partner journey for priority agent enablement integrations, from use-case selection and readiness assessment through architecture, prototyping, implementation, evaluation, launch, rollout, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Help partners select and implement integration paths across browser sign-in, connector-initiated OAuth, and agentic account linking or provisioning.
  • Write production and sample code, build reference implementations and test harnesses, and create technical guidance, integration checklists, evaluations, and debugging tools.
  • Debug identity and agent workflows end to end, including user interface state, browser redirects, PKCE/OIDC transactions, token exchange and validation, account mapping, connector callbacks, CLI or MCP handoffs, latency, retries, rate limits, logs, traces, and metrics.
  • Review partner architectures and implementation plans for API contracts, scopes and permissions, consent, terms acceptance, account policy, secret handling, data boundaries, privacy, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Run hands-on evaluations, dogfooding, launch-readiness reviews, staged rollouts, and post-launch investigations.
  • Contribute improvements to ChatGPT, Codex, and the Agent Enablement platform, including identity protocols, APIs, SDKs, documentation, examples, internal tooling, partner-debugging workflows, launch guardrails, and user-facing consent or control experiences.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, partnerships, legal, policy, security, support, and go-to-market teams.
  • Turn recurring partner integration patterns into platform requirements, reference architectures, playbooks, and developer guidance.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of professional software engineering or AI engineering experience.
  • Experience operating in customer-facing or partner-facing roles, including scoping projects, building MVPs, presenting solution-design and architecture trade-offs, and executing implementation plans.
  • Experience building and operating production full-stack products, APIs, backend services, developer platforms, connectors, or integrations.
  • Ability to reason across frontend, backend, authentication, data models, reliability, privacy, and user-experience constraints.
  • Strong understanding of plugins and connectors used with coding agents, including MCP servers, CLIs, and APIs for accessing external tools.
  • Ability to work with external engineers, product leaders, and executives and translate partner feedback into technical plans and product improvements.
  • Ability to work comfortably with ambiguity and turn high-level ideas into runnable prototypes, API contracts, and technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High-level understanding of identity systems, including OAuth.
  • Experience designing or operating APIs, webhooks, schemas, SDKs, CLIs, MCP servers, tool-calling systems, or other developer-facing integrations.
  • Prior customer-facing or partner-facing engineering experience leading technical calls and helping external teams ship production software.
  • Familiarity with AI products, LLM APIs, ChatGPT or Codex surfaces, coding harnesses, developer platforms, agent workflows, or ecosystem products.
  • Experience with evaluations, staged rollouts, observability, incident response, launch operations, and converting production learnings into platform improvements.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Base salary: $197,000–$280,000 per year.
  • Equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan with employer match; paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave; paid time off; paid holidays; mental health and wellness support; life and disability coverage; learning and development stipend; office meals; and relocation support for eligible employees.
