Details

The Plugin Developer Platform team builds APIs, SDKs, and tools that enable people to extend ChatGPT and Codex through plugins, connectors, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and interactive apps. The team works on plugin creation and publishing, systems that run plugins across products, and open standards for developers.

This role focuses on bringing plugins, connectors, and interactive apps to Android. You will build Android experiences and platform foundations that help developers extend ChatGPT and help users discover and use these capabilities on their devices. You will work across native Android interfaces, developer-facing APIs, and mobile extensibility systems, collaborating with product, design, and platform engineers from initial exploration through implementation, launch, and iteration. The role also involves working directly with developers and partners to understand mobile integration workflows.

The role is based in San Francisco and follows a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities

Build Android experiences for plugins, connectors, and interactive apps within ChatGPT.
Develop reusable Android components and interfaces that support a growing ecosystem of developer-built experiences.
Partner with platform engineers to connect native mobile experiences with APIs, SDKs, and backend systems.
Work with developers and partners to identify integration challenges and improve the experience of building for mobile.
Improve app performance, reliability, architecture, testing, and developer tooling.
Own projects from initial requirements through release, measurement, and iteration.

Requirements

Deep experience building Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks.
Experience shipping consumer-facing mobile products at scale.
Strong focus on performance, quality, and user experience.
A platform mindset and interest in designing reusable interfaces and abstractions for other developers.
Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and design, and work directly with developers and partners.
Interest in bringing AI-powered tools and extensible experiences to mobile.
Ability to work in fast-moving environments and help define product and technical direction.
