Engineering Manager, Money as a Service (MaaS)

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Its Money Management products—including Financial Accounts, Treasury, Global Payouts, Issuing, and Capital—enable businesses and platforms to hold, move, spend, and earn money using Stripe infrastructure.

The APAC Money as a Service (MaaS) team, based in Singapore, is responsible for bringing these products to Asia-Pacific markets. The team builds local rails, compliance capabilities, and partner integrations that enable businesses and platforms to open accounts, move money, and issue cards across APAC markets and currencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering pods and grow the team.
• Own the team's output, including what ships, when it ships, and how well it works for users.
• Own the engineering side of a zero-to-one charter by turning an ambiguous regional strategy into a sequenced, de-risked roadmap.
• Make build, integrate, or partner decisions and deliver launches across licensing, bank and network partnerships, and compliance requirements.
• Operate as a peer owner of business outcomes alongside product, go-to-market, legal, compliance, and partnerships teams.
• Bring a product perspective and challenge plans when necessary.
• Stay hands-on by reading code, reviewing designs, using the product as users do, and understanding Stripe's money movement stack end to end.
• Build the operating model for a newly formed team, including hiring, rituals, quality standards, on-call practices, and processes that support speed, safety, and reliability.
• Hire, develop, and provide direct, timely feedback to engineers.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience taking a product or team from zero to one, such as entering a new market, creating a new product line, or building and scaling a team.
• A track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers and building a high-performing, inclusive team.
• Strong technical depth in architecture, reliability, and trade-offs in complex distributed systems.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to translate user and market needs into engineering priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in payments, banking, or money movement, particularly launching regulated financial products such as accounts, payouts, cards, or lending in new markets.
• Experience operating in APAC markets, including working with local banks, networks, or regulators.
• Founder, founding engineer, or early-stage startup experience.
• Experience working with distributed partner teams across US, European, and APAC time zones.
• Experience using AI tools to improve execution, quality, and team effectiveness.
