Details

Stripe's Financial Connections group builds technology that enables individuals and businesses to securely share financial data and improve product experiences. The Technical Operations team operates at the intersection of product and platform engineering, financial partners, and AI automation.

The Financial Connections TechOps Manager will lead a team of Integration Reliability Engineers and oversee the operational backbone of Stripe's open banking ecosystem. The role is responsible for integration reliability, partner operations, agentic automation, and building a high-performing TechOps function.

Responsibilities

Lead Integration Reliability and Partner Operations

  • Own the health of Financial Connections' banking integrations at the team level.
  • Define reliability standards across the partner ecosystem and hold the team accountable to them.
  • Serve as the management escalation point for complex partner issues, coordinating with financial partners, Stripe engineering, and product leadership.
  • Set SLOs and own operational metrics that identify risk before it becomes an incident.
  • Prioritize the integration backlog, including new partner launches, reliability improvements, and partner-driven technical changes.
  • Maintain technical relationships with key financial partners, including commercial alignment, escalation frameworks, and roadmap coordination.

Shape the Agentic Automation Strategy

  • Set the direction for applying LLM-powered agentic workflows to high-volume operational work.
  • Determine where automation creates leverage and where human judgment must remain involved.
  • Partner with product and platform engineering to scope and reliably ship agentic tooling that measurably reduces operational toil.
  • Build the team's ability to design and operate Human-in-the-Loop review systems with appropriate safeguards, risk calibration, and operational ownership.
  • Identify high-volume manual processes suitable for elimination and sequence automation work to deliver compounding leverage.

Build and Grow the TechOps Function

  • Hire, onboard, and develop a team of TechOps Integration Reliability Engineers.
  • Build a culture of deep technical ownership, urgency and discipline in incident response, and elimination of entire classes of problems.
  • Act as the operational bridge between Financial Connections engineering leadership, partnerships, compliance, and legal.
  • Translate partner and regulatory requirements into clear engineering priorities.
  • Represent TechOps in cross-functional planning, advocate for reliability investments, and communicate the team's contributions across the organization.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of people leadership experience in a TechOps team.
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including coaching, performance conversations, hiring, and building high-performing teams.
  • Hands-on technical experience, including actively reading and writing code, investigating integration failures end to end, querying data to diagnose issues, and evaluating technical decisions and output.
  • Operational leadership experience owning production reliability, incident command, and operational programs in complex technical environments.
  • Experience building escalation paths, defining SLOs, and driving urgency sustainably.
  • Experience managing technical partner or vendor relationships at a leadership level, including escalations, roadmap alignment, and commercial considerations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A focus on creating team-level leverage through automation, tooling, and process improvements.
  • Experience building or overseeing agentic or LLM-powered workflows in a production environment, either as a practitioner or as a manager leading teams doing this work at scale.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep familiarity with open banking, financial data aggregation, or payments partner integrations, including failure modes, partner ecosystem dynamics, and regulatory and compliance considerations.
  • Experience building TechOps or operations engineering teams, including defining roles, building hiring pipelines, leveling candidates, and growing teams from a foundational state.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence engineering roadmaps and drive reliability investments, partner integration work, or operational tooling into planning and execution cycles.
