The Consulting team is part of OpenAI’s Enterprise Verticals organization. The team works with consulting design partners to understand their workflows and build products that help consulting teams use AI effectively. The work brings together OpenAI’s models and products, including ChatGPT Work, Dots, and Spaces, to support consulting activities from investigating client questions to delivering actionable advice.

The role involves building first-party OpenAI products for consulting and owning features end to end, including frontend interfaces, backend services, and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with design partners, consultants, and engagement leaders to understand workflows and identify problems that can be solved across consulting firms.
• Design and prototype experiences that help consultants perform important parts of their work more effectively.
• Build across the stack, from user interfaces to services and APIs connecting OpenAI’s models with consulting tools.
• Build products for firms with different methods and working environments while protecting confidential client information.
• Evaluate products with design partners and researchers using real consulting assignments.
• Ship products broadly to consulting teams and own rollout, reliability, feedback, and production-data-driven improvements.
• Collaborate with product, design, research, and engineering teams across OpenAI.

Requirements

• Experience shipping and operating a substantial product with hands-on ownership across frontend and backend systems.
• Strong product and interface instincts, particularly for software whose outputs users need to understand, question, or correct.
• Ability to work directly with users and distinguish individual customer requests from broadly applicable problems.
• Ability to turn unfamiliar workflows into working prototypes and make technical decisions to support many teams.
• Ability to make and communicate thoughtful tradeoffs involving quality, speed, and reliability.

Nice to Have

• Firsthand consulting experience combined with hands-on software development and shipping experience.
• Experience building software for research, analysis, collaboration, or other complex professional work.
• Experience developing AI applications and evaluating their usefulness with expert users.
• Experience designing enterprise products that handle sensitive information or support different organizational workflows.
• Experience taking a product from its first users to broad adoption as a founder or early engineer.
