Details

GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Fullstack Engineer to help turn its self-serve funnel into a reliable source of new paying customers. The role focuses on the in-product journey from a user's first visit through sign-up, trial, and first purchase across GitLab.com and self-managed GitLab. You will work primarily with Ruby on Rails on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend, collaborating with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Data Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and iterate on A/B tests and experiments that increase first purchases on GitLab.com and self-managed GitLab.
  • Build and improve registration, trial, onboarding, and in-product upgrade and purchase experiences.
  • Implement backend features and services in Ruby on Rails and frontend experiences using Vue.js.
  • Analyze experiment results and product usage data with Data Analysts to determine which changes to keep, iterate on, or roll back.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and UX Designers to define hypotheses and success metrics before shipping experiments.
  • Maintain and improve the experimentation framework and tooling to increase experiment throughput and reduce the time from setup to results.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering teams, including Fulfillment, to remove purchase barriers across GitLab's codebase.
  • Document decisions, review code, and share experiment results asynchronously with distributed teammates.

Requirements

  • Professional experience developing with Ruby on Rails and modern JavaScript.
  • Solid Git, feature development, and deployment workflows.
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of web performance optimization.
  • Experience shipping features to production and owning them after release.
  • Ability to use product data to decide what to build, keep, or roll back.
  • Ability to document decisions and share updates asynchronously with distributed Product Management, UX, and Data teammates.
  • Ability to organize work, seek and apply feedback, and collaborate inclusively with teammates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Preferred but not required: experience with Vue.js, PostgreSQL, A/B testing, feature flags, experimentation frameworks, or SaaS sign-up, trial, billing, or checkout flows.

Team

GitLab's Growth team works with one roadmap, prioritizing work based on how directly it helps people buy. The team works fully remotely and asynchronously across multiple regions and collaborates with teams such as Fulfillment and Pricing.

Benefits

  • Benefits supporting health, finances, and well-being
  • Flexible paid time off
  • Team Member Resource Groups
  • Equity Compensation and Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Growth and Development Fund
  • Parental Leave
