Anthropic is hiring an IT Operations Engineer to develop and operate its global asset management and hardware lifecycle program across offices in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, London, Dublin, and Sydney. The role covers procurement and receiving, inventory management, assignment, refresh, collection and recovery, e-waste and secure disposal, reseller relationships, and day-to-day corporate mobile operations. The position partners with IT Hardware Operations, Endpoint, Finance, IT Support, Security, business operations, and IT Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Tooling

  • Develop the global asset management strategy, including lifecycle models, device data, and office execution processes.
  • Select, implement, and administer an asset management tool; define its data model and integrations.
  • Partner with IT Engineering when platform-level access is required.
  • Develop processes for on-site engineers, including storage room operations.
  • Evaluate and onboard hardware lifecycle service vendors and manage the ongoing relationship.

Inventory and Assignment

  • Establish and maintain the inventory of record across systems from receiving through disposal.
  • Track each device's state, location, and assigned user.
  • Audit device assignments and reconcile physical counts with the system of record.
  • Manage demo, loaner, and travel device inventories.
  • Maintain inventory counts and support purchasing decisions for new-hire onboarding and peripherals.

Procurement and Refresh

  • Support hardware purchasing through reseller and vendor relationships.
  • Build and maintain the hardware refresh calendar across offices.
  • Reconcile purchase orders, deliveries, and invoices with Accounting and vendors.

Collection, E-Waste, and Disposal

  • Develop collection and recovery workflows for offboarding returns, refresh swaps, remote-employee returns, and BPO fleets.
  • Manage associated shipping and tracking.
  • Build an e-waste program with certified recycling and secure-disposal partners in each region.
  • Maintain data-destruction records and chain-of-custody documentation through certification.
  • Handle equipment under legal hold or other chain-of-custody requirements.

BPO and Contingent Fleet

  • Provision, track, and recover device fleets for BPO partners.
  • Serve as the day-to-day hardware contact for BPO vendors.

Corporate Mobile

  • Run day-to-day operations for the corporate mobile program and create its runbook.
  • Manage mobile-device deployment, break-fix operations, and carrier relationships.

Automation

  • Identify repetitive operational work and automate it using scripts, system integrations, connectors, and AI tools.

Requirements

  • Experience implementing an asset management and lifecycle program for a multi-office fleet, including moving from spreadsheets or no formal system to a system of record.
  • Experience defining processes for procurement, inventory, assignment, refresh, collection, and disposal in a fast-paced or high-growth environment.
  • Experience selecting or implementing an asset management platform such as Jira Assets, Snipe-IT, or a similar tool.
  • Ability to develop an asset management data model.
  • Experience operating an e-waste or secure-disposal program with certified partners and chain-of-custody records.
  • Experience managing reseller or vendor relationships for hardware purchasing and asset disposal.
  • Ability to create runbooks, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ability to identify when work should be routed to IT Engineering, the Endpoint team, or Finance.
  • Minimum education of a bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a corporate mobile program or carrier account.
  • Basic Bash or Python scripting for inventory or reporting automation.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve individual or team productivity.
  • Experience serving as the hands-on asset contact for an ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audit, including producing asset-register extracts, disposal certificates, and evidence of returned assets.
