IT Systems Engineer, Client Platform Engineer, ChromeOS

The Endpoint team manages Anthropic's employee devices and the infrastructure underneath them as a distributed platform. This role owns ChromeOS end to end, including procurement, enrollment, configuration, security, monitoring, lifecycle management, and retirement. The role also supports Android as a second platform and serves vendor and business process outsourcing (BPO) partners across multiple countries.

Responsibilities

• Own ChromeOS as a platform, including device standards, Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise setup, organizational unit design, and policy.
• Manage ChromeOS policy as code through the Chrome Policy API, GAM, and Terraform using configuration-as-code workflows with pull requests, CI, testing, and progressive rollouts.
• Build zero-touch Chromebook enrollment through resellers for vendor programs across multiple countries.
• Partner with IT Operations and procurement on international device purchasing and shipping.
• Design and select appropriate kiosk, managed guest session, shared-device, and assigned-device models for vendor teams.
• Configure controls for copy and paste, downloads, printing, USB, applications, and extensions.
• Own the device lifecycle for vendor fleets, including enrollment, wiping, locking, and retrieval.
• Integrate ChromeOS device data with fleet telemetry and track device check-ins, operating system versions, and configuration drift.
• Partner with Corporate Security on hardware standards, Verified Access attestation, minimum AUE dates, device trust signals, and access decisions.
• Work with Security on contractor access, vendor identity models, and keeping Anthropic data off vendor devices.
• Run data loss controls through Chrome Enterprise Premium.
• Support Android Enterprise and Android zero-touch enrollment in partnership with the corporate mobile program.
• Write runbooks for IT Operations and vendor partners to launch new programs.

Requirements

• Experience owning ChromeOS as a platform for a fleet of thousands of devices.
• Strong knowledge of Google Admin console and Chrome Enterprise, including organizational unit design, device and user policy, enrollment, and reporting.
• Experience automating ChromeOS policy through the Chrome Policy API or GAM.
• Experience running kiosk, managed guest, or shared-device programs for frontline, contact center, or outsourced teams.
• Experience setting up zero-touch enrollment with resellers and shipping devices across multiple countries.
• Working knowledge of Android device management.
• Ability to solve ambiguous problems involving multiple teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to varied audiences, including vendor partners.
• Product-engineering rigor in IT Engineering and strong technical documentation skills.
• Python and shell scripting.
• Google Admin SDK, Chrome Policy API, and GAM for policy and reporting automation.
• Ability to query live device state at fleet scale.
• GitOps and CI for configuration management.
• Endpoint security fundamentals.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Strongly preferred experience includes configuration as code with pull requests, CI, and staged rollouts; managing ChromeOS alongside macOS or mobile fleets; VDI or browser-based access; supporting BPO or vendor programs; automated progressive rollout systems gated by telemetry; and using LLMs to automate operational work.

Logistics

• Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no stated deadline.
• Staff are currently expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, and the role requires travel.
