Details
The Endpoint team, also known as Client Platform Engineering, manages the laptops and handsets used by Anthropic employees and the infrastructure supporting them. The team treats the fleet as a distributed platform, with configuration shipped as code through pull requests, CI, staging, and canary groups.
This role will design and implement Anthropic's corporate-issued mobile device program, including managed company phones and managed Apple accounts, and take it from initial design through production across every region where Anthropic operates. The role is part of a lean, autonomous team and owns the platform decisions for the corporate mobile program.
Responsibilities
- Design the corporate-issued mobile device program, including device standards, eligibility, and global expansion.
- Own global hardware-issuance logistics, including procurement partners, regional coverage, spares, and refresh cycles.
- Integrate mobile configuration into the team's configuration-as-code pipeline so policies can be reviewed, tested, and progressively rolled out.
- Build zero-touch enrollment using Apple Business Manager and Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) with managed Apple accounts on iOS, as well as the Android equivalent.
- Own policy, compliance, and device lifecycle management for the corporate fleet, from issuance through wipe.
- Build fleet telemetry covering device check-ins, operating system and patch state, and drift between reported and actual state.
- Own managed mobile application distribution, from app approval through update rollout.
- Partner with Corporate Security on device posture, device trust signals, and travel devices for international trips.
- Define how corporate-issued devices and BYOD coexist and own that boundary as the program expands.
Requirements
- Experience owning a global or multi-region mobile device program end to end, ideally managing corporate fleets at thousands-of-devices scale for 8 or more years.
- Deep experience with iOS device management, including enrollment flows, Apple Business Manager, ADE, APNs and certificate lifecycle, and declarative device management.
- Experience with Android device management and mixed mobile fleets.
- Experience treating device configuration as code rather than managing devices solely through administrative consoles.
- Experience running infrastructure under an MDM, including self-hosted MDM servers, AWS, Terraform, and configuration shipped as code.
- Experience building or launching a corporate device program and defining its coexistence with BYOD.
- Ability to work through ambiguous, cross-functional problems and communicate technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Product-engineering rigor in IT Engineering and strong technical documentation skills.
- Python and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of iOS and Android platform internals, with particular depth in iOS.
- Experience with modern MDM or UEM platforms such as Jamf, Intune, Workspace ONE, or equivalent.
- Experience querying live device state at fleet scale and automating mobile device lifecycles, including enrollment, policy, patching, and application distribution.
- Experience with GitOps and CI for configuration management.
- Endpoint security fundamentals.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience managing ChromeOS devices alongside a mobile fleet.
- Experience operating a device program across multiple regions and handling related logistics.
- Experience building automated, progressive rollout systems with promotion gated on telemetry.
- Proficiency in Swift for building device tooling.
- Experience using LLMs to automate operational work, or interest in using Claude as a teammate.
Work Arrangement
The role is remote-friendly but requires travel. Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
Benefits
Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office spaces for collaboration. Anthropic sponsors visas when possible and retains an immigration lawyer to assist with visa applications.
