Lead Platform Manager, Tech Foundations

Airbnb is seeking a product leader to own developer productivity products, technical user workflows, and platform capabilities across infrastructure, reliability, developer experience, and security. The role is responsible for understanding end-to-end developer journeys, identifying workflow breakdowns, and driving improvements across organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Establish the product vision and north star for developer productivity and connect it to Airbnb's broader strategy.
• Own cross-cutting developer workflows end to end across areas including application and cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, and developer experience.
• Define how developer productivity is measured, including metrics, instrumentation, and qualitative research.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Technical Program Management, and Data Science to establish goals, success criteria, and measurable objectives and key results.
• Develop the product roadmap and align stakeholders on prioritization and timelines.
• Influence teams without direct authority by using data and business cases to drive developer productivity investments.
• Build a deep understanding of how Airbnb engineers work and of the underlying technical architecture.
• Create and own Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) to inform technical decisions.
• Partner with engineers, designers, data scientists, and field-operations teams to scale solutions across existing and emerging business segments.
• Lead cross-functional groups, act as the system voice, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Execute efficiently to ship products and deliver measurable business and user impact.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product management experience building tools and platforms for technical users, including developer tooling, infrastructure, or platform products.
• Demonstrated success improving developer or engineering productivity, supported by measurable outcomes.
• Experience defining and operationalizing metrics for difficult-to-quantify outcomes, balancing quantitative and qualitative measures.
• Strong understanding of technical architecture for complex, highly scalable systems.
• Familiarity with modern AI-powered developer workflows, including AI-assisted development, code review, CI/CD, build systems, testing, and deployment.
• Ability to drive outcomes across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
• Ability to understand customer goals and needs and develop products that address them.
• Entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams around a product vision and strategy.
• Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts and communicate with technical and non-technical partners.
• Ability to prioritize and scope user requests and platform capabilities while balancing long-term vision with short-term needs.
• Previous experience as a software engineer, or experience working closely with engineering teams, is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with developer productivity research and frameworks such as DORA, SPACE, and DevEx is a plus.
• Strong storytelling skills and willingness to engage with detailed technical and product considerations.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required as agreed with the manager. The employee must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $232,000–$282,000 USD per year. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
