Details
We are looking for a 100% hands-on Storage Services Software Engineer to join the block storage group. You will help build next-generation block storage capabilities and architect a proprietary distributed file system solution from its inception. The role involves working closely with networking teams, other architects, and external customers to define the software architecture and implementation of advanced storage services designed for extreme performance and scalability.

Responsibilities
- Develop software in C across kernel and userspace in a 100% hands-on coding role.
- Research, design, implement, and test new and existing distributed storage services and features for NVIDIA's block and file storage solution.
- Develop storage capabilities for both host and DPU environments.
- Understand the algorithms, technical details, and interactions among components across NVIDIA's block and file storage ecosystem.
- Analyze and resolve challenging bugs and customer cases in large-scale production systems.
- Identify issues in kernel modules and other system components, and drive new solutions based on production issues.
- Work with networking teams, architects, and external customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of experience as a senior developer, preferably in storage, networking, and/or operating systems.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Experience with the Linux block subsystem, file systems, and the I/O stack.
- Experience with storage protocols and standards, especially NVMe.
- Understanding of large and complex systems.
- Professional experience designing and developing distributed systems; experience with block storage, file storage, and/or networking systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work autonomously with a proactive mindset and perseverance when solving daily challenges.
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and develop deep expertise in new areas.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- An innovative approach, including identifying opportunities to improve, accelerate, and reuse existing solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, including virtualization, scalability, and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Linux kernel coding experience.
- Knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including memory management and scheduling.
- Linux file system experience.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: USD 272,000–431,250 per year.
- Eligibility for equity and benefits.
