NVIDIA is seeking a CPU System Software Architect to help define the next generation of CPUs and systems-on-chip (SoCs) for agentic AI, data centers, and high-performance computing applications. The role involves working across NVIDIA CPUs, GPUs, custom processors, and accelerators to maximize the potential of NVIDIA SoC products. You will collaborate with industry partners, customers, internal architects, software teams, ASIC design, verification, and platform teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to craft next-generation CPUs and SoCs.
  • Apply deep knowledge of software architecture, system software technologies, and modern operating systems to drive hardware architecture decisions.
  • Provide direction and advice for designing optimized solutions to software engineering organizations.
  • Collaborate with key partners to customize solutions for their requirements.
  • Research upcoming industry directions in NVIDIA's key markets and advise senior management.
  • Work cross-functionally to make effective engineering trade-offs and drive engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of software and/or architecture experience with CPUs and SoCs.
  • Deep knowledge of operating system and driver software stacks, such as Linux.
  • Strong software development background in C.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex problems clearly and lead multifunctional groups toward efficient engineering solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a global team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of processor architectures such as ARM, RISC-V, and x86.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with CPU and SoC security architecture, including ARM Confidential Compute.
  • Experience working with the Linux open source community.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary range for Level 6: USD 272,000–431,250 per year.
  • Base salary range for Level 7: USD 320,000–488,750 per year.
  • Additional equity and benefits are available.
