We’re hiring a Product Designer to support People Innovation Labs, a fast-moving engineering team embedded in the People organization. The team focuses on rethinking how the company finds and retains talent and empowers employees to do their best work.

Projects range from greenfield 0-to-1 products such as OpenHouse, an internal knowledge hub, to AI-powered automations and scalable recruiting tools. The work infuses OpenAI’s models and first-principles thinking into recruiting, culture, productivity, and workplace products. In this role, you will be embedded with Product and Engineering to ensure the work drives measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall design and product direction for internal People products at OpenAI.
• Design and ship high-quality products and improvements, from early concepts through high-fidelity prototypes and visual designs.
• Partner closely with engineering, product management, AI research, and design peers to define long-term strategy and short-term tactics.
• Engage in user research to better understand users and refine products.
• Contribute to and evolve the design system.
• Help establish the design culture and grow the team.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience shipping larger-scale software products.
• A portfolio showcasing strong UX, UI, and interaction design skills, with a high bar for quality and craft.
• Ability to think through complex interaction design problems.
• Impactful communication and storytelling skills.
• Ability to tackle ambiguous problems and shape them into a clear vision.
• Interest in being immersed in the AI research process and defining how AI-first products should look and behave.

The base pay offered may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Total compensation also includes generous equity and performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
