Program Manager, Human Data

The Human Data team turns human feedback into reliable signals for training and evaluation. The team designs and runs end-to-end programs that capture human intent for model training and evaluation, including bespoke data campaigns, scalable synthetic data generation, and product-embedded signals. As a Program Manager on the Human Data team you will partner with research, operations, and engineering to execute complex human data collection programs and act as the key interface between external vendors, AI trainers, and internal researchers. This role is based in OpenAI's San Francisco HQ.

Responsibilities

• Work in a high-velocity environment where your work directly impacts models deployed in the real world.
• Partner closely with external vendors, AI trainers, and internal researchers to collect, review, and deliver high-quality labeled data.
• Gather requirements, write instructions, define success criteria, and calibrate AI trainers.
• Use internal tooling to assess labeled data and provide feedback to AI trainers.
• Recommend and help implement tooling and process improvements to optimize for quality, throughput, and AI trainer experience.

• Hands-on experience with data annotation and data analytics; able to use insights to inform decisions and improve processes.
• Experience working with vendors, trainers, or other external partners.
• Interest or background in AI, LLMs, and Agents is helpful but not required.
• Ideally 1–2+ years of relevant experience and eagerness to grow in a role that develops your skills.

• Base salary range: $180,000–$240,000 (base pay may vary by market location, experience, and other individualized factors).
