Details

The Human Data team turns human feedback into reliable signals for training and evaluation. The team designs and runs end-to-end programs that capture human intent behind everyday and high-stakes uses of AI models. Its work spans bespoke data campaigns, scalable synthetic data generation, and product-embedded signals, partnering with research teams to create training datasets, evaluations, and feedback loops.

This role is based at OpenAI's San Francisco headquarters. The Program Manager will partner with research teams, operations, and engineering to execute programs for collecting high-quality data. The role serves as a key interface between external vendors and AI trainers, helping ensure that human data campaigns are completed successfully and support the development of safe models.

Responsibilities

  • Use internal tooling to assess labeled data and provide feedback to AI trainers.
  • Recommend tooling and process improvements to optimize quality, throughput, and AI trainer experience.

Requirements

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, managing shifting priorities, and adapting to fast-paced changes.
  • Interest in AI, large language models (LLMs), and agents; background in these areas is helpful but not required.

  • Resilience, flexibility, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage details and competing demands.
  • Enjoyment of operational work and efficient execution of operational tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with data analytics beyond basic data annotation, using insights to inform decisions and improve processes.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a startup-like environment characterized by resourcefulness, hustle, and rapid iteration.

Benefits

  • Generous equity and performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax accounts for health, dependent care, and commuter expenses.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
