Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Enablement)

Reddit is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to turn AI capabilities into practical solutions that improve how the company operates across business and technical functions such as Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Finance. The role owns engineering work from discovery through production launch and adoption, with measurable impact on quality, speed, capacity, and cost.

The engineer will work closely with internal business teams and the AI Platform team to build AI applications, agents, integrations, and automations. The role involves writing code, experimenting quickly, making product and technical decisions, and ensuring production quality. The engineer will determine where AI adds value, where conventional automation is more appropriate, and what should remain a human decision.

Responsibilities

• Build AI applications, agents, skills, connectors, and workflow automations that solve business problems and improve how Reddit works.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into AI-native workflows and technical delivery plans.
• Work closely with internal functions, embedding where needed to understand their work and build trust with AI champions, builders, and subject matter experts.
• Understand function goals, jobs to be done, current workflows, systems, data, and measures of success.
• Prototype within days and productionize priority workflows within weeks when feasible.
• Integrate approved data, tools, APIs, and actions into safe end-to-end workflows.
• Define evaluations, review gates, human-in-the-loop controls, observability, and evidence.
• Launch trusted production workflows with governance, support, reversibility, and named owners.
• Transfer maintainable workflows to function owners and reduce long-term dependency on the team.
• Return repeated needs, blockers, and infrastructure requirements to the AI Platform Hub.
• Turn local wins into reusable agents, skills, templates, connectors, playbooks, and platform patterns.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience, including building AI applications, agents, automations, or internal tools.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and production judgment, with the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into solutions.
• Hands-on agent development and deployment, including tool and API use, orchestration, state management, and failure handling.
• Experience with enterprise integrations using MCP or comparable tool integration patterns.
• Experience with LLM retrieval and structured outputs.
• Experience with reliable AI operations, including cloud deployment, access controls, observability, evaluations, failure analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Clear technical and non-technical communication skills, including the ability to explain trade-offs and incorporate feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise business systems, internal tools, or embedded delivery.
• Experience creating reusable components or helping teams adopt new tools.
• Experience redesigning business workflows and measuring gains in quality, speed, capacity, or cost.
• Experience building user-facing AI tools and driving adoption through feedback, onboarding, and training.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $180,200–$252,300 USD. The posting may span more than one career level, and final offer amounts depend on factors including skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses or credentials.
