The iOS Platform team provides a best-in-class development experience at Airbnb, empowering engineers to deliver innovative solutions with high velocity and quality at scale. The team works across frameworks and tooling, build systems, CI, testing, and AI automations. It maintains and evolves the core libraries and frameworks underlying most of the Airbnb iOS app.
Airbnb's application is nearly 100% written in Swift and uses current Apple technologies, including SwiftUI, Swift Macros, Swift Testing, and structured concurrency. This role focuses on improving AI agents' effectiveness across the software development workflow by providing tools that enable efficient, reliable, and high-quality execution.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to identify opportunities to improve developer productivity.
- Drive roadmap projects and deliver high-quality results.
- Improve existing frameworks and tooling.
- Develop tools that improve AI agent execution time, token efficiency, reliability, and quality.
- Support large-scale software development workflow improvements and migrations.
- Travel to the San Francisco office for approximately one week each quarter for team gatherings.
Requirements
- 5–9+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Experience building reliable developer tooling in Go.
- Experience working with Ruby and maintaining or improving existing tooling.
- Experience leveraging agentic AI to improve software development workflows and drive large-scale migrations.
- Experience identifying and addressing inefficiencies in AI agent workflows.
- Experience working in medium- to large-scale codebases.
- iOS development experience in Swift, including building applications, libraries, and frameworks.
- Experience designing and developing build systems, such as Bazel, is nice to have.
Location
This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
