NVIDIA is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Planning and Control team and work on metrics and evaluation for autonomous vehicle systems. The role focuses on enabling rapid planner and controller algorithm development through critical evaluation products, novel evaluation methodologies, and metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop metrics for rapid debugging, testing, and evaluation of autonomous vehicle software.
  • Build data-driven evaluation products by combining on-road driving analysis, large-scale simulation, models, metrics, and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers, infrastructure engineers, and roboticists on novel, open-ended problems.
  • Work with the Planning and Control team to develop and drive software testing strategies.

Requirements

  • MS, PhD, or equivalent experience in data science, electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or a similar field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, and/or experiment design roles.
  • High proficiency in Python and associated libraries, including Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, and Matplotlib.
  • Familiarity with Git and Linux, preferably Ubuntu, or another Unix-based system.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to ramp up quickly on new technical domains.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing onboard planning algorithms.
  • Experience developing metrics for autonomous vehicle robotics systems.
  • Experience evaluating precision and recall of performance metrics.
  • Familiarity with C++.
  • Experience working in a large monorepo and with Bazel.
  • Knowledge of vehicle simulation, path planning, vehicle control, drive-by-wire systems, and self-driving technologies.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range is USD 184,000–287,500 for Level 4 and USD 224,000–356,500 for Level 5. Compensation is determined by location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The role also includes eligibility for equity and benefits.
