Details

Anthropic is seeking a product engineer to build internal products at the intersection of engineering, product, and design. The role focuses on owning outcomes, working directly with users to understand their needs, and building abstractions that unlock capabilities across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly design, prototype, and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
  • Consult with users and stakeholders to understand workflows and identify high-impact opportunities.
  • Identify patterns across user requests and reduce them into primitives, platforms, or middleware that support multiple use cases.
  • Build tools that maximize autonomy and creative freedom for less-technical users.
  • Make product and prioritization decisions rather than only executing predefined specifications.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback to improve the user experience.
  • Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and domains as the product evolves.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience building production software, ideally full-stack.
  • Ability to independently take a product from idea to launch when needed.
  • Systems thinking and the ability to develop effective abstractions.
  • Focus on empowering users and owning product outcomes.
  • Comfort making decisions with incomplete information and operating in ambiguous environments.
  • Proficiency across the stack, including Python, TypeScript, and React.
  • Experience building platforms, primitives, or internal tools that others build on top of.
  • Track record of independently shipping products.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD.

Benefits and Logistics

The company offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office collaboration space.
