Details

The Access Programs team builds identity, vetting, and access management infrastructure that verifies customers, grants access to advanced model capabilities for approved use cases, and prevents misuse. The role involves building trusted access systems for Claude while balancing broad access with rigorous safeguards.

Responsibilities

Build identity verification and vetting systems, including KYC/KYB workflows, to establish the identities of individual and business customers.
Design and implement access control systems that grant, scope, and revoke access to advanced capabilities based on approved use cases.
Build infrastructure for configuring safety systems and detection thresholds on a per-customer basis.
Develop monitoring systems to detect misuse of expanded access and tooling that enables enforcement teams to respond.
Partner with policy, enforcement, threat intelligence, product, research, and go-to-market teams to ensure access decisions are well-informed and consistently applied.
Build systems that identify account compromise and takeover, apply real-time mitigations, and support affected accounts through remediation.
Design and build dashboards, alerting, and internal administration tools that provide visibility into the health and outcomes of access programs.
Integrate with third-party identity verification and data enrichment vendors.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience.
Experience building and operating backend systems in production.
Strong coding skills in at least one general-purpose programming language.
Experience building software with AI coding tools.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Interest in the societal impacts of AI and in making powerful systems safer.

Preferred Qualifications

8 or more years of industry software engineering experience.
Experience building shared platforms or foundational services used by multiple teams and products.
Experience working across engineering, product, policy, operations, and go-to-market functions to gather requirements, reconcile competing needs, and drive adoption.
Experience with identity, authentication, or authorization systems at scale.
Experience with KYC/KYB workflows or identity verification vendors.
Experience in trust and safety, integrity, fraud, or abuse detection.
Experience detecting and responding to account takeover or credential compromise.
Experience partnering with operational teams to build custom internal tooling.

Compensation

Annual salary: $320,000–$485,000 USD.

Logistics

A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required. The role follows a hybrid policy, with staff expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time. Anthropic sponsors visas for eligible roles and candidates and works with an immigration lawyer to provide assistance.
