Details

Anthropic’s Platform Portability team builds the abstractions, tooling, and deployment infrastructure needed to train and serve Claude across multiple cloud providers and accelerator platforms. The team enables Anthropic to bring up new capacity, ship its platform to cloud provider platforms and marketplaces, and move workloads between providers reliably.

Responsibilities

Design and build provider-agnostic abstractions for storage, messaging, and connectivity that support frontier model inference workloads across multiple clouds.
Build tooling that enables internal teams to provision, configure, and operate services across clouds through a consistent interface.
Identify provider-specific assumptions in the codebase and establish patterns that prevent them from recurring.
Own the end-to-end delivery of Claude on third-party cloud platforms, including build, release, and validation pipelines.
Work with cloud-provider engineering teams and internal infrastructure stakeholders to deliver required features, debug platform issues, and influence provider roadmaps.
Develop native integrations with individual cloud providers while maintaining platform consistency across providers.
Review designs for cloud-portability implications and mentor engineers on multi-cloud patterns.
Align internal stakeholders through clear written and verbal communication.
Participate in the on-call rotation and design postmortems, runbooks, and incident-response processes.

Requirements

At least 8 years of practical experience building and operating production distributed systems.
Experience owning large-scale infrastructure systems and leading ambiguous, cross-team technical projects from design through production.
Experience running the same production workload across multiple cloud providers, including the migration or abstraction work required to support this.
Understanding of cloud IAM models and networking primitives, including VPC peering, private connectivity, and service meshes.
Production programming experience in at least one general-purpose language, such as Python, Go, or Rust.
Experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
Understanding of ML infrastructure and supporting interconnects.
Experience shipping software through hyperscaler marketplaces or managed-model platforms.
Background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
A field of study relevant to the role, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Interest in Anthropic’s mission to build safe and beneficial AI systems.

Compensation

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD.

Work Policy and Immigration

Hybrid policy: Staff are currently expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.

Preference is given to candidates based in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or the Bay Area.
