Details
Bloomberg's Enterprise Data department delivers market data products trusted by the world's largest capital markets firms. Within this organization, the Real-Time Technology team powers the distribution of live market data from more than 300 exchanges and 5,000 contributors to financial institutions globally. The technology provides the depth, breadth, reliability, and resilience required by trading desks, risk systems, and enterprise infrastructure.
The role focuses on the intersection of real-time data, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and developer experience. The product scope spans the real-time market data technology stack, including infrastructure, data delivery, interfaces, and client consumption patterns across traditional platforms, cloud-native applications, analytics systems, and AI-enabled workflows.
Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap for products across Bloomberg's Real-Time Technology, including on-premise, hosted, and cloud-native delivery architecture, APIs, entitlements, monitoring, and platform controls.
- Engage directly with quant developers, market data platform teams, cloud architects, front-office technologists, and other clients.
- Translate client feedback, market trends, incident patterns, commercial models, and technical constraints into prioritization decisions.
- Define how real-time Bloomberg data is consumed across evolving client architectures.
- Shape requirements with Engineering and clients for high-performance, resilient, and globally scalable data distribution systems.
- Drive cross-functional delivery across Product, Sales, Engineering, and Support to design, position, ship, and continuously improve real-time solutions.
- Translate between engineering detail, product strategy, commercial considerations, and executive-level narratives.
- Own product roadmaps end-to-end, from problem identification and requirements definition through cross-functional delivery and production iteration.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in technical product management, solutions architecture, or software engineering, with meaningful experience in infrastructure, data platforms, or real-time systems serving external clients.
- Working knowledge of capital markets, market data, trading workflows, buy-side or sell-side technology, exchange connectivity, or financial infrastructure.
- Ability to ramp into complex technical domains and make effective product decisions despite incomplete knowledge.
- Deep working knowledge of distributed systems, including throughput, latency, business continuity, and resilience tradeoffs.
- Ability to engage in architecture discussions with senior engineers.
- Commercial awareness, including pricing considerations, deployment model tradeoffs, contractual constraints, and the impact of product decisions on adoption and revenue.
- Experience making complex technical products easier for clients and internal teams to adopt through improved onboarding, abstractions, developer tooling, or operational simplification is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with real-time data distribution, messaging middleware, event-driven architectures, ticker plants, market data platforms, or low-latency systems is desirable.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and an understanding of how cloud infrastructure, AI-enabled workflows, or agent-based architectures are changing enterprise data consumption is desirable.
- Experience designing or managing API-driven and developer-facing products, including SDKs, streaming interfaces, or platform control planes, is desirable.
