Responsibilities

Define the team’s vision, set strategic direction, and execute a technical roadmap for conversion modeling at Reddit.
Architect and implement deep learning models for ranking, recommendation, or conversion modeling, tailored to conversion prediction.
Oversee the model development lifecycle from ideation to deployment, ensuring high standards of ML performance and robustness.
Lead and mentor a high-performing ML team: recruit, mentor, retain top ML talent, and foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs, data scientists, and Ads engineering teams to align on engagement strategies, data requirements, and model KPIs.
Drive technical execution by implementing and optimizing model architectures and advancing ML techniques.

Requirements

People management experience: prior experience managing engineering teams with technical mentorship and team growth.
Set technical vision and strategy: plan and execute a long-term technical strategy aligned with business objectives and define/execute a roadmap for conversion modeling.
Deep ML expertise with hands-on experience training, evaluating, and deploying large-scale machine learning models in production systems.
Technical domain knowledge: ads conversion modeling with ranking (heavy ranker experience) and recommendations experience.
Strategic thinking and ability to develop and communicate a clear technical strategy to internal customers.
Impact-driven mindset: passion for scalable, well-designed, responsible AI solutions.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
Experience (preferred/plus): ads conversion modeling experience is a plus.
At least 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams (ideally in the Ads domain); will consider tech lead experience as well.
Target skills/expertise include:
- Model architectures: experience architecting and implementing deep learning models for ranking/recommendation/conversion modeling.
- ML frameworks: proficiency with TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- End-to-end ML lifecycle: experience training, testing, and deploying production-grade ML models.
- Data pipelines: experience orchestrating large-scale data generation and processing pipelines.
- Ads domain experience: experience with interaction of ranking models with Ads systems (bidding, auction, retrieval).
- Ads modeling (preferred): background in ads modeling or familiarity with engagement prediction models in the ads domain.
