Reddit's lower-funnel business is rapidly growing, making advances in heavy-ranking web conversion models critical for continued growth. The Conversion Modeling team develops and maintains machine learning models that drive user conversions from Reddit Ads, including purchase, signup, add-to-cart, and other lower-funnel user actions.

The Engineering Manager will define the team's vision, set strategic direction, and execute the technical roadmap for conversion modeling at Reddit. The role requires deep machine learning expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative approach to working with technical and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define the team's vision, strategic direction, and long-term technical roadmap for conversion modeling.
• Oversee the machine learning model lifecycle from ideation through deployment, ensuring high standards for performance and robustness.
• Architect and implement deep learning models for ranking, recommendation, and conversion modeling.
• Plan and execute technical strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain machine learning talent while fostering technical excellence and team growth.
• Lead and manage a high-performing engineering team, providing technical mentorship.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineering teams within Ads on engagement strategies, data requirements, and model KPIs.
• Orchestrate large-scale data generation and processing pipelines.
• Implement and optimize model architectures for conversion prediction using deep learning and advanced machine learning techniques.
• Work with other Ads systems, including bidding, auctions, and retrieval.

Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience building and managing high-performing machine learning teams; technical lead experience may also be considered.
• Deep hands-on experience with machine learning models and deploying them in large-scale production systems.
• Proven ability to train, evaluate, and deploy large-scale machine learning models.
• Experience with Ads conversion modeling, ranking, including heavy ranker experience, and recommendations.
• Expertise in architecting and implementing deep learning models.
• Proficiency with mainstream machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Experience with the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, including training, testing, and production deployment.
• Experience orchestrating large-scale data generation and processing pipelines.
• Experience with the interaction of ranking models with Ads systems such as bidding, auctions, and retrieval.
• Ability to develop and communicate a clear technical strategy supporting broader company objectives and internal customers.
• Passion for developing scalable, well-designed, and responsible AI solutions that drive business value.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
• Experience in Ads modeling or familiarity with engagement prediction models in the Ads domain is beneficial.
