Details

Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to join Beneficial Deployments and maximize the impact of Claude in the life sciences. The role focuses on accelerating scientific progress from R&D through translation and making Claude a leading tool across academia, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical advisor to life sciences research institutions and mission-driven organizations throughout their Claude adoption journey.
Partner with the segment lead to understand scientific workflows end-to-end and translate them into impactful solutions from discovery through deployment.
Transform partners into AI-native organizations through Claude Code and Claude Science enablement, research, and business-process evolution.
Design and lead cohort-based accelerators to scale expertise and impact across multiple institutions.
Identify challenges in deploying AI in life sciences and communicate findings to product, engineering, and research teams.
Identify ecosystem-level opportunities, including MCP servers for domain-specific data sources, scientifically grounded benchmarks and evaluations, and reusable agent skills.
Create technical presentations, demos, documentation, tutorials, and sample code that can be scaled across institutions.
Travel occasionally to partner sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
Help shape team processes and culture as the team scales.

Requirements

8 or more years of experience in a technical role, ideally with customer-facing exposure, such as Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Product Engineer, or Forward Deployed Engineer.
Experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing. Experience in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery is a bonus.
Experience working in or building trust with academic research institutions, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical companies, or other mission-driven scientific organizations.
Understanding of the challenges and constraints faced by scientific organizations.
Familiarity with common LLM implementation patterns, including prompt engineering, context engineering, evaluation frameworks, agent architectures, and retrieval frameworks.
Strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and enabling others.
Ability to work across multiple responsibilities, build from scratch, operate in ambiguous situations, and drive clarity.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Logistics

Location-based hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
