Details

Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to join Beneficial Deployments and maximize the impact of Claude in the life sciences. The role focuses on accelerating scientific progress from R&D through translation and making Claude a leading tool across academia, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor to life sciences research institutions and mission-driven organizations throughout their Claude adoption journey.
  • Partner with the segment lead to understand scientific workflows end-to-end and translate them into impactful solutions from discovery through deployment.
  • Transform partners into AI-native organizations through Claude Code and Claude Science enablement, research, and business-process evolution.
  • Design and lead cohort-based accelerators to scale expertise and impact across multiple institutions.
  • Identify challenges in deploying AI in life sciences and communicate findings to product, engineering, and research teams.
  • Identify ecosystem-level opportunities, including MCP servers for domain-specific data sources, scientifically grounded benchmarks and evaluations, and reusable agent skills.
  • Create technical presentations, demos, documentation, tutorials, and sample code that can be scaled across institutions.
  • Travel occasionally to partner sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
  • Help shape team processes and culture as the team scales.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience in a technical role, ideally with customer-facing exposure, such as Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Product Engineer, or Forward Deployed Engineer.
  • Experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing. Experience in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery is a bonus.
  • Experience working in or building trust with academic research institutions, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical companies, or other mission-driven scientific organizations.
  • Understanding of the challenges and constraints faced by scientific organizations.
  • Familiarity with common LLM implementation patterns, including prompt engineering, context engineering, evaluation frameworks, agent architectures, and retrieval frameworks.
  • Strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and enabling others.
  • Ability to work across multiple responsibilities, build from scratch, operate in ambiguous situations, and drive clarity.
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Logistics

  • Location-based hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office time.
  • Anthropic sponsors visas and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications with assistance from an immigration lawyer.
  • Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and collaborative office spaces.
