User Experience Researcher, Platform

Anthropic is seeking a senior individual-contributor UX Researcher to join the Platform research team. The Platform organization includes the API, agent and connector infrastructure, Console, SDKs, and documentation used by developers and enterprises building with Claude. The researcher will independently identify high-impact research opportunities, conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative studies, and help technical teams make informed product decisions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Platform leaders and teams to understand what they need to learn about developers, organizations, administrators, and buyers using Claude.
• Define the research agenda and determine which questions are worth studying.
• Independently scope, design, conduct, and report end-to-end research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Interview technical users and design and analyze rigorous surveys.
• Communicate findings to product managers, designers, and engineers and follow findings through to product decisions.
• Build shared understanding of users so teams can make better decisions independently.
• Build research tools and infrastructure that enable research to keep pace with the Platform organization.
• Use Claude extensively and develop new research methods where existing approaches are insufficient.

Requirements

• Industry UX research experience independently scoping, designing, running, and reporting end-to-end studies.
• Expertise in mixed methods, including interviewing technical users and designing and analyzing surveys.
• Technical background as a software engineer, through sustained developer-experience research on APIs, SDKs, or developer tools, or through sustained research on deeply technical products.
• Ability to read technical documentation, build something small on the platform, and work effectively with highly technical teams.
• Hands-on use of AI for research analysis and tooling.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8 or more years of industry UX research experience.
• Experience setting research strategy for a product or product area and influencing strategy-level decisions.
• Experience working with fast-moving, engineering-led product teams.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills across technical and organizational audiences.
• Experience building with AI using coding tools and agents.
• Experience researching pricing, packaging, product value, usage-based products, or developer products.
• Background in API ecosystem or developer platform research.

Compensation

• Annual salary: $305,000–$385,000 USD.

Work Policy and Logistics

• Locations: San Francisco, California; New York City, New York; and Seattle, Washington.
• Hybrid policy: Staff are expected to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.
