Stripe's Developer & End-user Experience Platform (DEEP) organization empowers Stripe's products with a shared product platform for rapidly delivering high-quality, cross-product experiences across UI and API surfaces. It focuses on providing a consistent and scalable developer experience that internal and external developers can use to accelerate merchants' ability to create value using Stripe.

What You’ll Do
Backend Engineers will help manage money at a global scale by building ergonomic APIs. The role involves extending Stripe’s balance management platform and building a funds accessibility platform used by enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses. The team collaborates with cross-functional groups, including Infrastructure and Product, to deliver solutions for evolving user needs.
Responsibilities
- Scope, design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and large-scale systems that reliably and efficiently handle billions of money movement requests.
- Debug and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
- Mentor engineers and support their professional growth.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to build large-scale features while improving engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Collaborate effectively in a distributed and hybrid team while maintaining open communication and strong connections with colleagues.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- 2–12+ years of industry software engineering experience, excluding internships and co-ops.
- Strong coding skills in any programming language. The interview process is language-agnostic, and new languages can be learned on the job.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across team workstreams and contribute to peers’ success.
- Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Interest in working as a generalist across varying technologies and stacks to solve problems and support internal and external users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale financial tracking systems.
- Practical knowledge of cloud-based services and technologies such as gRPC, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
