Details
SentinelOne is seeking a Director, Software Engineering, Agent Platform, to lead the Agent Platform organization. The organization owns the control plane that SentinelOne agents depend on, including agent communication and configuration, agent management and health, and detection services that transform agent telemetry into customer protection.
This is a U.S.-based role leading a distributed organization of approximately 45 engineers across four teams in the Czech Republic, Israel, India, and the United States. The role owns delivery, operational health, and customer- and executive-facing responsibilities during U.S. business hours, while partnering closely with the SaaS Platform architecture group on the platform re-architecture. Candidates must be based in the EST or CST time zones.
Responsibilities
- Own the Agent Platform domain end to end, including delivery, operational health, quality, and roadmap commitments.
- Drive reliability by reducing incident inflow, closing corrective actions within defined timelines, and building observability that identifies problems before they affect customers.
- Lead and develop four engineering managers across three geographies, maintaining a consistent performance bar and building leadership depth.
- Represent the domain to executives and customers, including executive communication during incidents and engagement with enterprise, MSSP, and federal customers on platform questions.
- Partner with the agent and endpoint organizations, SaaS Platform architecture, Product Management, and SRE to deliver cross-domain outcomes.
- Lead the transition from a monolithic control plane to regional, horizontally scalable services and a modern container-based deployment model while maintaining the existing platform for customers.
- Plan capacity and headcount, balancing reliability, re-architecture, and feature delivery, and communicate trade-offs to Product and company leadership.
- Build U.S. engineering presence by growing senior engineering capability alongside the existing international teams.
- Deliver predictable execution across four teams, improve leadership capability, reduce incident inflow, close corrective actions within target windows, and deliver major platform modernization milestones without customer-visible regressions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success leading engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures through clear ownership, strong written communication, deliberate overlap, and trust.
- Experience operating a high-availability SaaS platform in production, including incident command, root-cause discipline, SLOs, and data-driven reliability improvement.
- Strong technical background in distributed backend systems at scale, including cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, data stores, and multi-tenancy.
- Ability to hold credible technical discussions with staff engineers and architects and evaluate system designs.
- Strong executive and customer communication skills, including the ability to provide accurate status during difficult situations.
- Track record of predictable delivery, clear ownership, effective planning, and reliable commitments.
- Experience managing managers, hiring senior engineers, and improving an inherited organization.
- Business judgment and ability to connect engineering investment to customer outcomes and explain trade-offs among reliability, re-architecture, and new capabilities.
- Typically 12 or more years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading multiple teams through managers in a SaaS or cloud infrastructure environment.
- Security domain experience is advantageous but not required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
