About Sentry

Software runs the world and the pace is faster than ever. Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice, so teams can spend less time firefighting and more time building.

Trusted by more than 200,000 organizations, Sentry is an application monitoring standard, and the team is building its AI-native future.

About the Role

Sentry is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Growth team, internally called "Value Discovery," and help expand its product-led business by helping customers discover and get the most out of the platform.

Sentry approaches growth with an explicit bias for customer value. Experiments are rooted in strong product sense and empathy for developers rather than conversion pressure. The team does not surprise developers with new charges or push features they do not need. In a binary tradeoff between doing good by the customer or good by the business, the customer always wins.

The role collaborates closely with Product, BizOps, Data, Design, and GTM to identify moments in a developer's workflow where Sentry can deliver more value, make that value easier to find, and support the approach with data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers, set priorities, and be accountable for the metrics the team moves.
  • Define and execute the roadmap in partnership with design and data teams.
  • Lead work across Sentry's self-serve funnel, including signup and onboarding, first-run activation moments in-product, trial and upgrade paths, and pricing and billing surfaces in partnership with the Billing team.
  • Work primarily in a Python/Django and TypeScript/React codebase.
  • Evolve experimentation foundations in close partnership with the Data team, including feature flagging, instrumentation, and readouts.
  • Run a fast, disciplined experimentation loop in which hypotheses are evaluated before implementation.
  • Track conversion and activation alongside churn, support volume, and 90-day retention, and report all results, including experiments that are flat.
  • Develop engineers on the team, including helping them do excellent work on initiatives that may be deleted or changed.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience managing engineers, including time owning a metric-driven team, in addition to a strong engineering background.
  • Technical credibility with senior engineers. Engineering Managers engage substantively in architecture and technical decisions and pass a technical assessment at a senior individual-contributor bar.
  • Strong product sense and the ability to identify where a change will create the most value, rather than only where a metric can be moved.
  • Experience helping users get the most out of a complex product.
  • Working fluency with experimentation frameworks, feature flags, A/B testing, and analytics instrumentation.
  • Ability to talk credibly with users about their workflows, tooling, and pain points, with genuine opinions about developer tools used.
  • Bonus: experience with growth at a developer tools company, building experimentation infrastructure from a low starting point, or running experiments at volumes where statistical significance was not guaranteed.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $220,000 to $450,000 per year.
  • Up to 25% bonus.
  • Equity grants.
  • Employee benefit plans, including paid time off and group health insurance coverage.

Actual compensation depends on factors including work location, education, experience, skills, job-related knowledge, business needs, and market demands. Sentry may offer above the posted range for exceptional talent.

Sentry is committed to equal employment opportunities and provides reasonable accommodations for employees and candidates with disabilities.
