Details

Nebius is building a full-stack AI cloud platform for developers and enterprises, supporting workloads from data and model training through production deployment. The company focuses on GPU orchestration, inference optimization, compute, storage, networking, and applied AI.

The Technical Director of Media and Entertainment, AI Infrastructure will initially operate as a senior individual contributor at the intersection of AI infrastructure engineering and the media and entertainment industry, with a path toward building and leading a team. The role works with CTOs and engineering leaders at studio groups, VFX houses, gaming studios, agency holding companies, and generative AI model companies. The focus is on building engineered solutions, developing strategic ISV and cloud-native partner relationships, and influencing the M&E product roadmap.

The role may be performed remotely from the United States, with San Francisco Bay Area or New York City preferred. Travel expectations are 10%–20% for executive meetings and key industry events.

Responsibilities

AI Infrastructure Architecture

  • Architect infrastructure solutions for strategic media and entertainment partnerships, studio-scale content production pipelines, agency data consolidation initiatives, and generative AI model deployments.
  • Develop architectures that operate reliably at real-world scale rather than only passing proof-of-concept validation.
  • Explain to executive stakeholders how infrastructure decisions, data lake locality, storage tiering, and inference optimization affect business models and operability.

Forensic Requirement Gathering

  • Translate business goals into precise engineering requirements.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks and determine the infrastructure interventions required to help customers transition from legacy service bureaus to AI-native technology platforms.

ISV and Partner Technical Strategy

  • Identify, engage, and technically validate relationships with critical media and entertainment ISVs, including rendering and VFX toolchains and generative AI platforms.
  • Define reference architectures for running partner tools on Nebius infrastructure.
  • Work with ISV engineering teams to build and publish technical standards.
  • Evaluate ISV and partner opportunities based on technical merit and strategic leverage.

Internal Technical Influence

  • Use evidence from the field to prioritize the media and entertainment vertical roadmap.
  • Work with Nebius's global Head of Product and Head of Engineering to translate partner and customer needs into product direction.
  • Chair a quarterly M&E product summit with Core Engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, distributed systems, or a closely related technical domain.
  • Executive presence and the ability to present layered technical roadmaps to C-suite stakeholders, CTOs, and VPs of Engineering.
  • A builder mentality, with experience architecting and shipping solutions, creating reference architectures, integration playbooks, and technical frameworks, and growing from individual contributor to team leader.
  • Experience defining platform strategy and making product-minded technical decisions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments.
  • A forensic approach to investigating technical and business issues, including analysis of kernels, logs, and financial implications.
  • Expert, production-grade knowledge of GPU architectures, including H100 and L40s.
  • Expert knowledge of Kubernetes orchestration, including Soperator.
  • Expert knowledge of high-performance and parallel file systems such as Lustre and WEKA.
  • Knowledge of data lake architecture and networking constraints, including InfiniBand and Ethernet.
  • Expertise in inference optimization, including model serving, batch sizes, quantization, KV caching, latency tradeoffs, high-throughput systems, and real-time sub-50ms workloads.
  • Deep production-grade working knowledge of GPU infrastructure and inference-based solutioning is required.
  • Industry experience in the media and entertainment ecosystem, including one or more of gaming, multimodal generative models, AdTech, or VFX/content production.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with VFX pipelines, studio-scale content production workflows, render farm management, distributed simulation, asset pipeline tooling, or related cloud tooling.
  • Ability to distinguish between customers who need raw bare-metal access and those who need managed endpoints and recommend the appropriate solution.

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and families.
  • 401(k) plan with up to a 4% company match and immediate vesting.
  • 20 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers.
  • Remote work reimbursement of up to $85 per month for mobile and internet.
  • Company-paid short-term, long-term, and life insurance coverage.
  • Career growth and learning opportunities.
  • Flexibility and ownership.
  • Collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects.
  • International environment and talented teams.
