Details

Most companies treat support as a cost center. ClickHouse treats it as an engineering challenge and a product opportunity.

Support Operations Engineering is an engineering function within ClickHouse's Support Services organization. The team builds systems that determine how customers get help from the moment they describe a problem until it is resolved. This role will help shape how Support Services, RevOps, GTM, and core Engineering teams collaborate on customers. It is not solely a tools team: approximately one-third of the work directly supports the support organization, while the remainder focuses on building experiences and systems that help ClickHouse work with customers more effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build systems between ClickHouse's customers and the teams that serve them.
  • Build intelligent routing and decision systems that determine where work should go and who should handle it, using multiple signals and adapting as the business scales.
  • Develop AI-powered customer-facing and internal experiences that understand user needs, recommend next steps, and determine when to hand off to a human.
  • Build production-quality internal platforms and tools for Support, RevOps, and GTM teams.
  • Develop integrations and data flows across Salesforce, live chat, incident management, Slack, GitHub, and other systems.
  • Create automation and observability systems that reduce repetitive work, identify failures, and provide confidence in operational systems.
  • Partner with core Engineering to ship to production.
  • Own delivered systems, including code review, testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience building and shipping full-stack software in production using technologies such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, and React, or comparable tools.
  • Experience developing APIs, webhooks, and integrations between distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience close to support, such as working as a support or technical support engineer or building tools and integrations for Support, Customer Success, or RevOps teams.
  • Confidence with Git and safe, version-controlled deployment workflows.
  • Ability to translate operational needs into solutions that non-engineers can understand and follow.
  • A self-driven, curious shipper's mindset and comfort owning problems end to end in a remote, globally distributed team.
  • Comfort using AI tools in day-to-day development, with good judgment about where to trust them.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience building LLM-powered production features, including routing, retrieval, evaluation, or observability.
  • Salesforce platform experience, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, custom objects, or Salesforce certifications; or the ability and willingness to develop this expertise quickly.
  • Experience with support and incident-management tooling such as Pylon, incident.io, PagerDuty, Zendesk, Slack APIs, and GitHub APIs.
  • Experience with ClickHouse or other analytical databases.
  • Experience in an early-stage or greenfield environment or within a support, RevOps, or business-systems function.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment at a globally distributed, remote-friendly company operating in more than 25 countries.
  • Employer contributions toward healthcare.
  • Stock options for every new team member.
  • Flexible time off in the United States and generous entitlement in other countries.
  • USD 500 home-office setup allowance for remote employees.
  • Opportunities to engage with colleagues through company-wide offsites.

Compensation

The typical base salary range is $154,000–$215,000 USD annually, with general-market and premium-market ranges depending on location. The premium market includes locations such as the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and the New York City metropolitan area. Actual compensation depends on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs.
