Details

Stripe's APAC Payments TechOps team, based in Singapore, improves the health and resilience of payment acquiring volume. The team partners with payments and platform engineering teams to reduce operational workloads through code, tooling, data, and process improvements. It also ensures the financial data quality of key systems by quarantining data without impacting downstream systems and implementing upstream changes to prevent recurring issues.

The internship involves a real production project with meaningful impact on Stripe's payment operations. Example projects include building automation to detect anomalies in financial data, improving reconciliation tooling, and streamlining certificate management workflows.

Responsibilities

Investigate system problems by examining code, writing SQL queries, reading logs, and inspecting data pipelines.
Write production code that has a meaningful impact on Stripe's payment operations.
Give and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to seek and incorporate feedback.
Learn unfamiliar systems, ask effective questions, and communicate work status clearly.
Work with an intern manager and teammates while pursuing projects with a high degree of autonomy.

Requirements

Strong fundamental understanding of computer science through pursuit of a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or a related discipline.
Some programming experience through side projects or coursework. Stripe primarily uses Ruby, Go, and Python, though the ability to learn new languages and strong programming fundamentals are valued.
Experience from previous internships or multi-person projects, including open-source contributions, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and receive feedback from mentors, peers, and stakeholders.
Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and understand them through independent research and collaboration with mentors and subject-matter experts.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two years of university education or equivalent work experience.
Familiarity with SQL and working with data through coursework or personal projects.
Comfort with developer tools such as Git.
Strong interest in understanding root causes and building durable solutions.
Specialized knowledge in areas such as data engineering, systems debugging, or financial data analysis, balanced with general skills.
Ability to write clearly when explaining work to stakeholders, team members, and other Stripe employees.
