Details

Airbnb's Dev AI team builds foundational AI tooling and infrastructure that powers developer productivity across the software development lifecycle. The team also provides building blocks for domain-specific, internally-facing AI tools and operates as both a platform team and an internal AI consultancy.

The role will help shape and execute the technical direction of the team's infrastructure and products, including agentic coding tools, asynchronous AI workflow platforms, SDKs for internal AI application development, and AI-assisted code migration. The work will influence how engineers across Airbnb work and accelerate innovation across the company's product surface.

Responsibilities

Help shape and drive the AI for Developers strategy.
Partner with Staff and Senior Staff engineers on architecture trade-offs and product direction.
Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and balance innovation with incremental, measurable developer impact.
Serve as a champion, expert, coach, and consultant to help teams and leaders adopt new AI capabilities in their daily workflows.
Foster relationships with partner teams and stakeholders and establish working agreements.
Coach and mentor the team with empathy while helping team members grow in their roles and responsibilities.
Contribute to the broader organization's culture and processes with a first-team mentality.

Requirements

2+ years of experience as a full-time manager.
Experience supporting and coaching Staff+ engineers, ideally multiple, as well as Senior engineers.
Experience managing a remote or distributed team.
Prior experience building developer infrastructure, tooling, or platforms, ideally at scale and with tools, frameworks, or systems commonly used in the industry.
Experience applying AI technologies to real-world software development challenges.
A track record of quickly ramping up in new domains, technologies, or programming languages, along with genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning.
Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
