Networking @ 6

Details

Anthropic is seeking a Network Deployment and Maintenance Lead within its Data Center Operations organization to ensure that networks inside and between data halls are deployed, brought online, and maintained across a growing fleet of partner-operated data centers. The role covers cluster networks, management and telemetry networks, accelerator chip back-end networks, aggregation layers, cabling, optics, and switching.

This is a program and execution role involving extensive collaboration with Global Capacity Delivery Program Leads, Repairs Program Leads, Data Center Operations, network engineering, facilities teams, vendors, and operations partners. The role requires at least 50% travel, including extended on-site work during network delivery, turn-up, quality assurance, close-out, and repair activities.

Responsibilities

  • Own network deployment outcomes for assigned sites and data-hall waves, including data center, management, telemetry, accelerator chip back-end, and aggregation networks.
  • Engage from construction kickoff to confirm network readiness, including pathways, fiber trays, cabling, optics, receiving paths, and partner staffing.
  • Lead on-site network delivery, cabling, turn-up, quality assurance, and close-out activities.
  • Validate network build handover gates, including cabling and link validation, acceptance criteria, documentation, spare parts, ticketing, and transition into production operations.
  • Own the fleet-wide network repair program, including repair SLAs, prioritization, escalation paths, ticket flow, and tracking of turnaround times and backlogs.
  • Manage vendor RMAs, warranty claims, return cycles, and spare-parts levels for switches, optics, cabling, and other network equipment.
  • Lead weekly deployment and repair reviews and scorecards with partner site leads.
  • Analyze failure patterns and drive corrective actions with network engineering, suppliers, and WAN/Core teams.
  • Convert deployment and repair lessons into procedures, checklists, acceptance criteria, operational standards, and metrics.
  • Communicate status, dependencies, and risks to engineering, capacity planning, and leadership.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience in data center operations or network deployment as a manager, technical lead, or in a related role.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data center network deployments across multiple sites or data-hall waves, from early floor access through turn-up and acceptance.
  • Experience operating break-fix or repair programs for network hardware, including ticket flow, RMAs, spare parts, vendors, OEMs, or contract workforces.
  • Experience managing measurable milestones, SLAs, quality gates, operational reviews, and corrective actions.
  • Hands-on technical expertise with data center networking, switches, structured cabling, fiber, and optics.
  • Experience building or substantially improving operational processes.
  • Ability to use schedule, ticket, telemetry, and inventory data to drive decisions.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work on site for extended periods; 50% travel is expected.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dense accelerator networks, high-speed interconnects, optics, and cabling at rack and pod scale.
  • Experience establishing network operations at a new site or data hall, from commissioning handoff through first turn-up.
  • Experience managing RMA and warranty programs with network OEMs, including failure analysis and supplier quality engagement.
  • Experience delivering deployment and repair outcomes in partner-operated or colocation sites staffed by third parties.
  • Familiarity with meet-me room and WAN bring-up, including handoffs between in-hall and building-level network teams.

Benefits

Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office collaboration spaces. Anthropic sponsors visas where possible and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications with the assistance of an immigration lawyer.
