Details
Bloomberg’s CTO Office is the future-looking technical and product arm of Bloomberg L.P., focused on next-generation infrastructure, hardware, and applications for the Bloomberg Terminal. Projects include machine learning-powered products, cloud computing infrastructure and strategy, open source stewardship, and generative AI.
The Data Activation group, part of the Data & Analytics division in the Office of the CTO, connects Bloomberg’s data systems to internal and external customer outcomes. Its remit includes data, AI, APIs, developer experience, Bloomberg Terminal integrations, first- and third-party API platforms, external developer ecosystems, AI/ML applications, and BQL, Bloomberg’s query language.
This role leads the Data Activation pillar within the Data & Analytics group and reports to the CTO organization. The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team of product managers, data scientists, technical writers, and developer relations professionals. The role focuses on enabling data-driven innovation and empowering customers to build on Bloomberg’s data.
Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the product vision and roadmap for activating and experiencing Bloomberg data across APIs, the Bloomberg Terminal, AI platforms, and developer ecosystems.
- Lead and mentor product managers, developer advocates, and data-focused specialists while fostering customer obsession, technical excellence, and collaboration.
- Partner with engineering, AI research, and product teams to deliver seamless data access experiences for developers, quants, analysts, and researchers.
- Drive innovation in programmatic data access through BQL, APIs, SDKs, and integrations, including emerging agentic AI use cases.
- Shape the external developer strategy with engineering and business stakeholders through tools, documentation, and engagement programs.
- Define success metrics and KPIs, using data-driven insights to prioritize, measure adoption, and improve developer and data activation experiences.
- Monitor trends in data APIs, AI/ML integration, developer platforms, and data monetization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in product management or related technical leadership roles, ideally in data, platform, or developer ecosystems.
- 5+ years of experience managing product teams and leading cross-disciplinary groups.
- Experience launching and scaling API or data platform products for developers, analysts, or AI/ML practitioners.
- Strong understanding of data systems, APIs, developer workflows, query languages, and programmatic data access patterns.
- Ability to translate complex data and infrastructure capabilities into intuitive user-facing solutions.
- Track record of customer-centric product thinking and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to align technical and business stakeholders around a shared vision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a technical or business-related field.
- Experience building or scaling developer platforms or ecosystems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools, APIs, and applied data products.
- Background in data science, data engineering, or software development.
- Knowledge of financial markets.
- Curiosity about how data, AI, and APIs combine to create customer and developer value.

Compensation
The salary range is $235,000–$350,000 USD annually, plus benefits and bonus. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education, training, and skill level.
